This PAC 12 championship game is one sorry spectacle

An even bigger question is why did they start the game at 6pm local time on a Friday? The damn game is hundreds of miles from either school at a neutral site and they're playing it on a weekday during rush hour. Gee, wonder why nobody attended?

The answer must be they don't give a crap about regional fans attending or watching. Looks like it is scheduled for a viewing audience in the east and central time zones. Screw the attendance.

Oh how times have changed. We used to say the bottom half of the SEC was better than the best of the other conferences

Name one person who ever said that. No one was ever claiming that Kentucky and Vandy would whip up on Oregon or Oklahoma or Ohio State.

Seriously dude? You know damn well the SEC nut swingers back to the GSMB days were bragging about how the worst SEC teams could beat the best of the Big 10 and ACC. If you don't remember those conversations you have selective amnesia.

Oregon did not impress through the first half of that game. Arizona's Swiss cheese defense held them to 9 for the better part of the first half. They looked like our offense through most of that time. Alabama would've rolled up 28 on their defense in that same half and get steamrolled by the run game in the 2nd half and not get enough possessions to even make a try at it.

I'm dead serious. Name one person.

Aside from some SEC Neanderthal occasionally chest thumping that any SEC team would beat any other school's team, I think the consensus claim has been that the SEC's top is year-in year-out better than anyone else's and that the SEC middle is better than anyone else's middle. The bowl records over the past 20+ years show this and most coherent fans of any other conference would agree with this as well. We're not better than everyone else top-to-bottom, but we are better than everyone else throughout the depth of the conference.

What happened with the ACC last week doesn't change that at all. Their top played our middle-bottom and snuck away with a sweep. No way their top 4 plays our top 4 (or even our 4-8) and the results are the same.
