This went almost exactly as I thought it would go, but not how it should have gone. While I expected Smith to win the Heisman and deservedly so, there's no way in hell T. Lawrence should have been second. I thought Trask would end up 4th and Lawrence 3rd, but that's because:
Having said that, Lawrence should NOT have even been in the top five. The dude missed like half of an already shortened season and played worse than he did last year and worse than the other two QBs in the race. But when you rely on humans to do the right thing, this is what you get.
But I also want to say one more thing. Heisman or no Heisman, Trask, you are one of the greatest Gators ever and one of my all-time favorite players now. And that's saying a lot. Just look at my username for my absolute favorite. And you, Kyle, are right up there with him.
In this instant gratification, selfish, me-first, look-at-me, everything-offends-me athlete (and many people) today, you handled everything with patience, humility, selflessness, class, a quiet confidence and belief in yourself and your team and grace.
As someone who is more than twice your age, it's special when an athlete can still bring back that sparkle and give me hope that there are still quality young athletes (and moreso people) in today's world.
In this sh!+storm of 2020, you were the lone bright spot. Thank you, Kyle.
