Some of you apparently don't watch the NFL. Andrew Luck is a turnover machine who's saving grace is being in the worst division in the league. Go look at his record against teams outside of his division. Their idiot GM just tied up a bunch of money in mediocre players and their O line is a mess. It's in Indy and the owner is a drug addict. Even in their best years the Colts are simply the Patriots whipping boy and rightfully so. It's not an attractive job at all.

Good, they can start negotiating with him after we send his overrated Alabama team home from Atlanta with another loss

Too bad Trent Richardson isn't with the Colts anymore.

It really is interesting timing. How many years does Saban have left? May be his best chance and offer he'll get to jump at the NFL.

It will be interesting to see what happens in a bidding war

He may or may not be the best coach ever at Bama, but he'll never be as beloved as Bryant.

They have an offensive coordinator ready to take the reigns when Saban leaves!

If Saban goes, the coaching search will be interesting. Does Bama promote Kirby, does UGA fire Richt ASAP to get Kirby, and then does Bama try to pry away coach Mac if that scenario happens?

It's a better job than most, because of the reasons you listed. You would need to overhaul the o-line and some of the skill positions. Saban's defense doesn't require special players, but solid ones. They are in a weak division. With the Dolphins he had to play the Patriots on their early run, a decent Bills team, and a average Jets team. In Indy, he would have more control, and would have to play the Titians, Jags and Texans all of whom can't get out of their own way.

Hope springs eternal. Who do you think Bama might get or promote from within?

I wouldn't bet on Saban leaving, but out of all the rumors of him leaving in the past, this move makes the most sense.

Link. Can you imagine being the poor schlep reporter in tuscaloosa that has to ask Saban about the rumors?

I think the only team that he will go to is the Dallas Cowboys.

I'd do it for free. "So, Coach Saban, when you gonna start denying the Indy rumors and are you going to throw a hissy fit so we can get this on camera?"

Saban leaving for the NFL rumors always start around this time and they all end up being untrue.
They usually end with him making a couple more million a year in his base salary.

If that was the case, then he would be coaching at Texas already.

They are the reason why he got his last raise

Agree, at his age and with 50 million in his bank account he is probably a lot less motivated by money at this point. If you make 2 million and get an offer for 3.5 million that's motivation. If you're nearing 70 and have way more money than you and you next 2 generations can waste, 7 million vs 9 million a year isn't going to change your quality of life.

It only comes down to one thing, does he want another shot at the NFL or not? If he has come to grips with being satisfied with a legacy as one of the greatest college coaches of all time that wasn't cut out for the pro game, there is no reason to leave. If they lose again this year though frustration could set in which might make him consider giving it a shot.

These guys have massive egos. The only reason that I would think that he would want to go back to the NFL is to prove the naysayers wrong. But he's approaching 70…

Although the money is always a factor, I agree with you that it would not be the biggest factor based on how much he's made and where he is in his career.
