”Son” she said. “Have I got a little story for you
What you thought was your daddy was nothing but a…
While you were sitting’ home alone at age thirteen
Your real daddy was dyin’
Sorry you didn’t see him, but I’m glad we talked…”

Don’t know that I’d say it’s my favorite, but it’s real.

Once was all hell, on a way say on a wayyy yeah

He ain't wrong, he's just different, but his pride won't let him do things to make you feel he's right.

It's just knowing that the world will not be cursing
Or forgiving when I walk along some railroad track and find
That you're moving on the backroads
By the rivers of my memory
And for hours you're just gentle on my mind

It's funny how the mind works.

I read the lyrics and my answer would have been " I'll take "Wichita Lineman" for $500 Alex.

Love that song, and By the time I get to Phoenix... But honestly, at some point in my life, I realized that Wichita Lineman is really about a stalker dude who worked for the phone company and was listening in on that chick! "...still on the liiiinnnnnne" see? SEE!?!?!?!?!?

Well, she's walking through the clouds
With a circus mind
That's running wild
Butterflies and zebras and moonbeams
And fairly tales

The dancer slows her frantic pace
In pain and desperation,
Her aching limbs and downcast face
Aglow with perspiration

Stiff as wire, her lungs on fire,
With just the briefest pause —
The flooding through her memory,
The echoes of old applause.

She limps across the floor
And closes her bedroom door…

The writer stares with glassy eyes —
Defies the empty page,
His beard is white, his face is lined
And streaked with tears of rage.

Thirty years ago, how the words would flow
With passion and precision,
But now his mind is dark and dulled
By sickness and indecision

And he stares out the kitchen door
Where the sun will rise no more…

Some are born to move the world —
To live their fantasies
But most of us just dream about
The things we’d like to be

Sadder still to watch it die
Than never to have known it
For you — the blind who once could see —
The bell tolls for thee…
