Vols cancel classes for season opener

First off, this is embarrassing that an academic institution would do this, but this quote at the end of the article made me laugh.

One small addition to that last statement from the Provost: One of Tennessee's exam days will now be Dec. 3, the date of the SEC Championship Game.

At least their Provost understands that they won't make it to Atlanta.

I actually agree with canceling classes considering it's a home game. It would be a logistical nightmare to have 35,000 students + faculty and staff on campus while trying to set up a home game. Students would also be dodging tailgaters left and right trying to get to class.

There's a decent chance they lose this.

I'm no fan of Thursday games but having one the first week of the year makes some sense.

I hate to say it but I agree with Knox. Imagine having a game and classes on the same day at UF. Kids would have to park 12 miles away and walk.
