I still don't see how Jones can be ahead of Lane. Jones is just not a good pure runner. Hopefully that is because of his use in that new position to catch the ball etc.

Could be a lot more going into the decision than just pure running. Coaches haven't seemed to be too keen on Lane just yet.

Also released depth chart for Sat. Only surprise is that T Burton is listed 1rst at TE, but since they've said that Mcgee will be Playing the B position which they don't have listed , I don't that really means anything.

Maybe it means Muschamp is insisting on blocking at all costs and McGee will ride the bench mostly unless Clay misses time - similar to Taylor at RB last season.

Your reasoning makes my head hurt. They have said all along that McGee was going to be playing the B position and line up at times at Te. They have also stated that Burton would line up at the traditional Te , where you would get that McGee will be riding the bench is beyond me.

I can't fathom they'd start Stone Hands Burton over a guy with NFL talent. McGee can't possibly be as bad at blocking as Reed was.

Go to 24/7 and look at the depth chart that TG has posted. It says te/b . Clay plays the traditional te while McGee plays the "B". No controversy or Clay starting over McGee.At least that's the way I read it. I'd post the chart but frankly I suck on a computer and don't know how to cut and paste. :embarrassed:

Well most of us couldn't fathom Taylor not playing earlier and then he magically became good enough when others went down.

FWIW Adam over at Only Gators is saying that it's a respect thing for a 4 yr guy.And that McGee is the starting receiving B player while Burton is the blocking te.

I don't have a problem with lane being behind Jones and brown . I'm sure he'll get a few touches. I think a healthy Matt Jones is going to be a pleasant surprise for a lot of you guys.

Not imo - running the ball - his first step is a little too slow but Taylor should be the main option there anyway.

he's had a few really good games for us. I don't think his first step is as slow as some of you guys make it out to be. I just don't think he was hitting the holes very hard early in his freshman year. I like Taylor better aswell but I think it's important to have a running back like Jones that the linebackers don't wanna tackle at the end of games.
