Just accept the fact that we're no longer an elite program. Makes games like yesterday much easier to swallow.

It's just hard to accept, I guess. Always will be. Yes, there is more to life. But Florida football was supposed to be one of the joys of life. Now it's just the opposite.

Yeah it took me a while and I still get worked up but we are a middle of the pack program with middle of the pack coaches, middle of the pack players and recruiting, and middle of the pack facilities.

J started this thread about stepping back from being so invested in this team bc it's just not enjoyable and it's making him be someone he doesn't like.

Well, after reading his comments I had that feeling that you get when sitting in the pew and feeling like the preachers words are directed straight at you :embarrassed:

My son has been sick and battling an ear infection, and my wife has been getting little sleep. She had to run errands and see her grandmother in the hospital who may not last much longer so she left our son with me and left a few mins before the game. My son woke up from his nap and was not happy, had to console him for about an hour, instead of being a good dad I was irritated the whole time bc the game was going like crap. Then my wife called right before they took the lead to see how we were and I acted like a complete ahole to her simply bc of the freakin game. It hurt her feelings. I felt really badly and apologized and, of course, she was perfectly fine after which honestly, she shouldn't have been. I was a dck.

Reading J's comments made me realize I've become the same person. I'm nervous and irritable leading up to kickoff and then pissed off and irritable during and afterwards more often than not. And this usually ends up ruining my entire weekend.

I'm gonna try to step back a bit and get some perspective. My family deserves a lot better than what I've been giving them for the last year or so. I'll still be around but I'm gonna try and back off a bit.

Good post. I had the same realization during the Muschamp years. Life is too short to let this ruin your day. Enjoy your wife and kids. The only thing that bums me out is out is that I do not want to watch CFB the rest of the day. At least my weekend turns more productive.

It was worse than I thought. We only threw short passes to the RBs on our first 3 drives and didnt even thow a pass to our TEs until the 4th drive it appears in the 2nd half. We basically didnt even try to use a WR until our 5th drive in the 2nd half. No excuse for crap like that. That is Muschamp style ball trying to sit on a lead.

The only play that pissed me off to the point of shouting at the TV was that 3rd and inches when we ran the most slow-developing piece of **** sweep I have ever seen. All Appleby had to do was snap the ball and fall forward.

I think I knew at that point it was going to be the most painful half of football in years.

I didn't watch many games in chump's final year. It was what it was. If I could catch a game, I would pop in, see the same crap, and then do something else. Just numb.

The difference with Mac is that he provided HOPE with the wins early last year and then the comeback vs Tennessee and the total domination vs Ole Miss. We knew Grier only had ONE good game but we resigned ourselves to Treon being the issue late last year - ALTHOUGH that was on Mac as well since he NEVER REPLACED Treon.

Hope springs eternally before the season begins. We then open the season nursing a 10-3 halftime lead against UMASS and an absolutely pitiful game against North Texas. Then the clusterfvk vs Tennessee.

I bought into the hope - But it was BS. My life is incredibly busy and this is the one thing that I do for entertainment. All my time revolves around work, family, and volunteer commitments. This is my one escape. And it's not longer fun or enjoyable and I just don't see that changing in the near future.

But how did we fall so far (I know. Muschamp). And how do we and why can't we seem to ever return back to the program we once were?

Yes, and this staff has pretty much zero ability to recruit talent. They are about to follow up the two worst classes since probation with the third worst class.

We three great recruiting classes from competing again and the first one isnt in the oven yet.

My opinion on why this staff cannot recruit well is very simple. Great position coaches are great recruiters and this staff has only one good position coach in my opinion - Rumph. The jury is still out for me on Gray.

I think Nuss and Collins are terrible coordinators. I was always confused how Collins got the nickname - Minister of Mayhem when his Miss State defenses did not stop any good teams consistently. Mac hired a Colorado State staff, not a University of Florida staff... I have been scratching my head over these staff hires since Mac was hired.
