Law's laws of recruiting, or, you might not be a 4 star if:

You're from Cali
You haven't been offered by Bama (and it doesn't count if the Bama offer comes after you committed to the Gators)
You play against medicore high school competition
You're an undersized DT (but you might be a 4* if you're the right-sized 3* DT)
You're only a 4* according to 247's composite
Mac is recruiting you

Anymore rules of the road so we can properly evaluate the names that appear on this thread between now and signing day?
I can see law reading this while vigorously nodding his head.

You're an undersized OL, see undersized DT.

You're a smurf.

You should probably clarify that the Cali rule applies to basically everyone in the west, ie Arizona is Cali too for the purposes of the rule.

Maybe something for 3 star gym rats (like Jawaan Taylor) or Hunter Joyer.

The Bammer thing doesn't make sense. You've missed something there.

Shame, how could I miss the smurf exclusion...

Let's be honest, any 3* could be a gymrat/overachiever and we would never really know it.

Re Bammer, in response to pumping for a 4 star commit By citing that bama has offered them, I've seen people (not necessarily you) highlight the timing/reason for bama'a offer to question the quality of the commit. A stretch I know....

Yeah, maybe it should be guys who finish the plays, the Jawaan Taylor's and Stone Forsythe for the edge they showed in dominating their opponents.

It's really mixing two things anyway. It's a response to those claiming we are doing a smoking job because we stole a guy from Bammer, and merely highlighting that it was our Plan A and Bammer's Plan C. It's not the same as saying that I didn't like him. For instance, I can like David Reese as an inside linebacker (and our only recent inside line backer recruit) and I am very glad we have him. However, I realize that he wasn't the Plan A for Meatchicken or Bammer and that we didn't "steal one" from them.

There's probably a power running back rule to be had also, but I'm not quite clear on how to articulate it. Ie why I liked Perine but won't be too sad if Malik Davis scoots to Oreygun.

Coach Gray visited this kid today: Timothy Jordon, 6' 187lb RB/Safety from Bartow. His stats aren't very impressive and his 247 profile says he's committed to Western Kentucky. I can see taking this kid as a DB, but don't we have a bunch of other legit 4-stars about to commit?

Also, this is the kind of DT and OL's we should be looking at. Why are we visiting 2-star RB's this late?

Yes, if you believe Bowl, we have two dozen blue chippers preparing to commit.

And yet...the coaches are trying to steal directional players.

Well, to be fair he does have an offer from Tennessee and North Carolina. Although I still think it's stupid

If you're arrogant enough to make a commitment video, you shouldn't be allowed to
decommit.

This goes for Hansard and this Herbert kid. How you going to make a commitment video and then back off the pledge?

You think these kids actually think about what will happen 2 months, weeks, days, hours or even minutes from now? As long as fans hang on their every word, they don't care about what might happen later.

These kids do this social media and love it but I bet if your kid walked up wanting a picture with them it's a bother to them. Then complain they have no privacy.
