UF not done recruiting Safety for 2018 class:

https://www.seccountry.com/florida/florida-gators-recruiting-safety

Addressing needs
For the second straight week, the Gators have added a safety to their 2018 class.

Junior college prospect Deontai Williams committed to Florida on Monday after visiting the school over the weekend to meet UF coach Jim McElwain & Co.

Williams committed to the previous staff 3 and a half years ago as a 2015 recruit, but later flipped to Georgia before failing to qualify academically. However, Florida has kept tabs on Williams during his JUCO detour and decided to make a run at him after schools such as Alabama and LSU began showing interest in the spring.

The Gators now have three verbal commitments at the safety position — their No. 1 need for 2018 — with Williams joining 4-star safeties Amari Burney and C.J. Smith in the class. Burney pledged to Florida on June 1 and gave the staff some momentum to kick off the start of summer camps.

Even with a trio of commits in place, UF is not done yet at safety. Secondary coach Corey Bell and other assistants are still pursuing 3-star recruits Jamien Sherwood (Jensen Beach, Fla.) and Randy Russell (Miami Carol City), who de-committed from the Miami Hurricanes last week following his trip to Florida.

The Gators will return just three players (Quincy Lenton, Jeawon Taylor, Donovan Stiner) at the position for the 2018 season, though some of their current and incoming cornerbacks could play safety if necessary. Nonetheless, at this point the coaches have adequately addressed their roster needs through recruiting.

Trikweze Bridges update
Speaking of safety, here’s one to watch for the Class of 2019.

The Gators extended a May 5 offer to Trikweze Bridges, a 3-star recruit from Lanett, Ala. He also holds early offers from Alabama, Kentucky and Louisville.

Bridges plans to make a return trip to Florida this summer after visiting the school in 2015.

“I went to their camp my freshman year and the environment was so great. It was so much fun,” Bridges told SEC Country. “When I got there, I was iffy about them. But when I was there and started seeing more, I just fell in love with the school.”

The 6-foot-3, 175-pound prospect is also planning to visit Clemson and Louisville in the coming weeks. He wants to make his decision early in his senior year.

“I want to have a good relationship with the coaches, the school needs to have a good academic record and obviously they need to help develop me as a player,” Bridges said.

Bridges believes he would get that player development and education at UF. He is impressed by Florida’s track record with defensive backs.

“Their DBs work really fast,” he said. “They’re always attacking the ball and I like that. I’m a ball hawk in the secondary.”

So how does it work with jucos when it comes to recruiting rankings. Deonti was a 3* in 2015. Does he get re-rated?

Two new offers:

Florida has offered 2019 safety Cortez Andrews (Tallahassee, Fla.) and 2020 athlete Caziah Holmes (Cocoa, Fla.).

Andrews also holds offers from Auburn and Georgia, while Holmes has one from Miami.

Judge Culpepper, 3-star DL - 100% UF

Legacy, correct?

Three-star CB Brandon Cross out of Orlando has decided to leave the Sunshine State for Rocky Top.

The Jones product announced his commitment to Tennessee on Monday via his Twitter account.

Goes on to thank his HS coaches, including HBC at the HS "Elijah Williams". Didn't we have an Elijah Williams at RB/DB? Not the same, I'm assuming (common enough name).

(Hard to believe this kid doesn't pick WVU, but it would be a nice addition):

Florida is in final 3 for 4-star DT Dante Stills, a national top-150 prospect

http://gridironnow.com/dante-stills-2018-recruiting/

Four-star defensive lineman Dante Stills has trimmed his list of more than 20 offers down to a top three of Florida, Oklahoma and West Virginia.

“Right now I’m just trying to take it slow,” Stills told GN. “A lot of people right now are releasing a top 10 and all that, but you don’t really need that. You just need a couple schools that you know for sure you want to visit or go to. So, I released my top three because that is going to help me out and help my family out with traveling and all that.”

Stills (6 feet 4, 265 pounds), from Fairmont (W.Va.) High, is among the top-15 defensive tackles nationally and a top-150 overall prospect in the class in 2018.

“I didn’t really think I would be this high in the rankings,” Stills said. “I knew I was going to work for it, and it’s truly a blessing because not a lot of guys get to experience the recruiting process.”

Florida is one of the three finalists.

“I picked Florida because I have a great relationship with (running backs) Coach (Ja’Juan) Seider,” Stills said. “He coached at West Virginia, so me and him have had a great relationship for I don’t know how long. I also have a good relationship with Coach (Chris) Rumph, the defensive line coach. In July I’m going to go visit Florida.

“I’ve liked Florida since I was little. I used to watch Tim Tebow, and I liked him.”

Oklahoma also made the list for Stills’ top three; does the retirement of Bob Stoops have an impact?

“I didn’t expect it at all because after 18 years you usually keep going,” Stills said. “He’s a great coach and led them to a lot of Big 12 championships and I think he retired in a good way. I talked with Coach (Lincoln) Riley last week and we have a great relationship and he wants me to come down for a visit.

“Coach Stoops retiring doesn’t really affect me because I didn’t get to know him all that much. I’m kind of glad he retired when I didn’t know him because if I would have known him, it would have hurt a little more.”

“Florida and Oklahoma both send defensive linemen to the league, and that is what my main goal is.”

Stills also has home state West Virginia in his top three.

“There is a lot of pressure to go to West Virginia,” Stills said. “I mean, I only live like 15 or 20 minutes away. My dad went there and my brother is there right now.

“My relationship with West Virginia is unbelievable and it’s like family. I can go up there and talk to them anytime I want. So, it’s really hard, and if I do leave it’s going to be tough.”

Dante’s brother, Darius, is a freshman defensive tackle at WVU.

Stills says he is having a great time with the recruiting process.

“I’m enjoying it and I never thought I would have 23 offers,” he said. “This time last year I only had one offer and that was West Virginia. Now that I have more offers, it becomes a much tougher decision.”

While he has released a “final” three, there is one more school that could grab his signature.

“I mean, I’m still open, but I’m pretty sure it’s going to be one of my top three unless something crazy comes up,” he said. “My dream school is LSU, so if they were to offer, then I don’t know.”

Stills has been offered by Florida Atlantic, Miami, Michigan State and Tennessee since the beginning of April.

Marcus Tillman Jr, from Orlando Jones.

http://www.gatorsports.com/article/...itle=UF-boosts-2019-football-recruiting-class

Florida’s 2019 class, ranked No. 1 nationally by 247Sports, picked up a verbal commitment Wednesday from a defensive back out of Orlando.

Marcus Tillman Jr., a 6-foot, 195-pound safety out of Jones High, verbally committed to Gators coach Jim McElwain over offers from Ohio State and Ole Miss.

With Tillman’s commitment, which is non-binding until he signs a letter of intent, the Gators have nine commits in the 2019 class.

Is Nav responsible for this one-threadedness?

Dont the kids deserve their own thread? Not that anyone really cares about a 14 yo "committing" to a coaching staff that wont be here.

Here's another story on this kid, says he's 6'3 (the other says 6'....pretty big difference):

Florida lands commitment from talented in-state ATH Marcus Tillman Jr.

Florida received good recruiting news Wednesday.

Athlete Marcus Tillman Jr., a member of the class of 2019, announced that he committed to the Gators in a tweet. With his commitment, he added that he was “born a Gator, Raised a Gator, going to be a Florida Gator!!”

SEC Country’s Zach Abolverdi reports that Florida is recruiting Tillman, from Orlando, as a safety/linebacker. The young player is 6-foot-3, 195 pounds.

Florida went 9-4 last season with a victory over Iowa in the Outback Bowl.

Looking at the photos in the article, he's not much taller than Shannon or Mac, so I'd say he's 6' or so - but he's got 2 more years of HS to grow some more.
