Ever see those parents that are constantly telling their kids "no", "stop doing that", "if you do such and such youll be in trouble", etc but some of those kids just ignore the parents and do it anyway? Then notice how some parents only have to say something once, maybe twice and that's the end of it. I wonder what the difference is? :scratchchin:

I have a 7 year old nephew. Hes an absolute terror when his parents are around, doesn't obey and openly defies. But when they arent and I am, it only takes 1 warning from me and hes as straight as an arrow. The only difference is that I actually discipline while they just preach about consequences.

I get that mac has suspended some kids, or gave them "internal punishment" and what not, but some of these punks keep doing the same thing, and yet.. mac just gives them the same soft punishment again and moves on like nothing happened. Others see that and think the worst that will happen is a short punishment followed by the status quo, so they join in next time too. Im not a psychologist, but I am a parent and uncle to young kids, and I see this stuff every day. If he wants to regain control of this team its time he start practicing some tough love, not just love.

This is one of those posts that I wish I could like more than once. Very well said.

Makes me think of the time Mac chewed out Kelvin Taylor. Seemed to work then, but now the players have realized that their Coach Clarabell is all bark and no bite.

I'm harder on Mac than most but this is the best move. Not to sound repetitive but it really is do or die on offense. Zaire probably gets 2-3 series...maybe? I really thought Zaire was brought here to be the starter. Kudos to Franks for taking the next step. Game on. Come strong or don't come at all. I want to see a fired up team. URGENCY.

ANd if Mac turns a corner then god bless us all. That's the best possible outcome.

My only concern(and it is a great one to have) is if Franks blows up...will Corral come here to sit for a couple years. Again...great problem to have.

Go Gators!

PS Threat, please go easy on me but send it to me when you are ready and we can start Sunday if you'd like.

Well, the slight bit of good news is that if Franks is starting then he must be measurably better than LDR. I know that's not saying much, but if Franks were neck and neck with LDR then I think Mac would have LDR starting due to his name and experience.

sofla, I like you....but you lost your whole point in the first couple of sentences: "But a couple of knuckleheads...."

It's not a "couple"....it's not three.....it's not four.....it's not five....it's not six.....it's not seven.....it's not eight.....it's NINE!!! AND COUNTING!!!!

I'm far from a "fire McElwain" guy....but I'm damn sure not happy with him. Throw out the 7 blowout losses in two years. The mediocre recruiting classes. The losses to FSU. The lack of development of a QB. I'm not happy about him losing the team! I'm not happy that he doesn't command the respect of HIS players. If this mess isn't cleaned up quickly and he can't get this team on track for a successful season, then - yes - his employment status needs to be evaluated. And I'd say it's easily justifiable to fire him "for cause" (meaning no buy out or compensation). HE is responsible for "institutional control" and he's evidently lost it.
They need to wait until the "verdict" is in ... then kick every one of them off the team. The 9 guys getting together (allegedly) to commit fraud could be 9 guys getting together to accept money from a booster. I think the decision has already been made. I wouldn't be surprised if McYet loses his job over this.

There's no doubt that LDR knows the system, can read defenses, and can audible better than Franks. Which means whatever Franks is doing, in the coaches eyes, it offsets the fact that LDR is superior in those areas. My guess is the kid knows things well enough that he is making plays out there. Plus, he can do things no one else on the roster can do at QB. I can't wait to see him.

1) He stretches the field
2) He has greater mobility
3) He doesn't fold like a tent when he's hit
4) He hasn't yet established a Twitter account
5) And yet

The situation reminds me of something Spurrier used to say: paraphrasing "if the offense can't do anything, throw a few long ones. Heck, if it's intercepted it's just like a punt. And maybe you'll get lucky too".

Put some WRs on the post and pass and/or run draws.

Chip Kelly is waiting by the phone. He should get the call NOW, no reason to even wait for Saturday. Perhaps we could get Mac escorted out of there tomorrow and have Chip take over on Saturday.
Thats what i dont get. Why would chip kelly not come here? He got a bunch of better offers waiting on him? News flash people, the nfl is done with Kelly.

Maybe because we haven't offered him the job?

Kelly would come here but I think he would go to Notre Dame or even A&M before us. Sumlin will be fired short of 9 regular season wins and the ND coach will be fired if he pulls a 7-5 mark or maybe even at 8-4.
