The end of this season is 3 years in the program. And our AD is named Stricklin. And I'm sorry, if he loses every remaining game by as little as 1 point, he needs to go.

But it is counterproductive to remove a coach that has not completed 3 years in the program, particularly given the results of the previous two years.
The last two years would have been acceptable if we were Vandy, but they were unacceptable, unwatchable trash for the University of Florida. The East "titles" are absolutely meaningless.

I am not saying that I think everything is wonderful. But it is counterproductive to remove a coach that has not completed 3 years in the program, particularly given the results of the previous two years. Money aside, if necessary he will be removed but it would have to be a catastrophic situation along the lines of losing every game left on the schedule by 3+ TDs. I am not high enough (ie having buildings named)to have direct access to Strickland but am good friends and fraternity brothers with those who do. It really comes down to how certain are you that that the costs (tangible and intangible) of making a change are less than the benefit or certainty of success of making that change. As I have stated before, there are no realistic replacements out there that are certainties.
I frustrated as hell, but I am also patient and believe I take the long view of things. So I am waiting till the season plays out and then in hindsight can make a clearer and rational evaluation.
I get what you are saying. I really do. I was there at the beginning of the season and all the way thru Vandy. I was hoping and praying that he had figured something out. And he hasn’t. I really don’t think Mac is a bad coach, but he’s a horrible GM. Nuss’s contract should have never been renewed and neither should have Nord’s. He has hitched his wagon to these and possibly others, and so he is responsible. I want to give him the benefit of the doubt, but I can’t.

He is not pointing this program in the right direction. That’s what’s disappointing. He doesn’t know where his deficiencies are, and if he does, he doesn’t know how to correct them.

Now the apologists will point to the injuries and suspensions, which was done during the Muschamp days. I was one of those back then, but I have learned my lesson. This crap show has regressed. He needs an amazing close to the season for me to have more patience.

I hope the big boosters will take a hard look at the lack of progress and cut the cord.

Results of the last two years?

4+ losses? Blowouts against ranked teams? Not scoring an offensive TD against FSU? Being the laughing stock of the SEC in Atlanta?

What has he done in the last two years to think he deserves more time? We backed our way into Atlanta. Butch doesnt Butch last year then none of this is even a question, he would be gone.

Those are coming...just like last year.

The only difference this year is we aren't going to Atlanta to get raped by Bama, and the only "good team" on our schedule is UGA, FSU is down this year but my main concern in that game is if Butters has the ability to score an offensive TD against them. Oh and let's not forget about USCe when Butters loses to the coach that started the downfall of this clusterfu*k of a football program. "Pretty kewl eh"

So, we have a "big booster" who thinks we need big blowouts to convince him/her that this coach is not the answer.

And yet, we wonder why the football program is such a disaster.:scratchchin:

Its like Im living in some bizzarro in which 4 (blowout) loss seasons are "good years" which apparently entitle a coach to a 6 year extension.

And this is basically what I am saying. I am still going to hold judgement until the end of the season. Only the most zealot would believe firing the coach right now is the best move. I'm a gator fan (and I am not suggesting anyone else isnt) so I will continue to go to the games continue to believe we will and can win and continue to try and have fun. Just because my team is losing, or looks crappy I am still going to proudly show up and yell and give my thousands of $ to the University that I love and has given me so much. At the end of the season then we evaluate.

I swear some of you around here are really over the top if someone expresses an opinion that is counter to what you may think. Really ferg? Geez, we are all fans, I have not cast any negativity (ala losers, perma ban, etc) to anyone who is calling for Macs head, why can we just get along.....

No disrespect CUUF but if you are giving thousands and not hundred of thousands, you arent a big booster.

Like I said, I am not in that category of having a building named after me but I am friends of folks that do and I give in excess of 20K to annually to the athletic assoc, so I still consider that a tangible booster. There are only an handful of boosters that give in the 500-1 mill category

I guess some of us think these are false choices.

You can:
A. Be a loyal fan by rooting for the team and proudly show up and yell and give thousands of $ to the University

AND

B. Push for a better coach because of "A"

I don’t understand the buyout excuse. If the contract reports are accurate, it’s $12.5 million this year or $10 million next year. Difference is inconsequential.

The only relevant discussion here is whether Stricklin has the balls to pick his guy now and do whatever it takes to go get him, or if he’d rather wait until we suck for another 12 months and delay the rebuild that much longer.

I fear that Stricklin came to UF holding a belief that all would be on auto-pilot for several years. From that he certainly could not be ready to "bat cleanup" in the football HC box. He has to find certainty forever that firing Mac will never be considered a mistake or even too hasty a decision. Then he has to spot and deliver an unfaltering new HC and staff. To make matters worse Stricklin will lose his lifetime supply of BBQ-sauce.

I'm not mocking you. That's far more than I've ever given. There are only a handful of the hundred thousand or more types, but they are more equal than others as you know.

I don't think anyone is seriously thinking we should fire Butters now. I think we SHOULD fire Nusschump now (if not two years ago) and see if Butters can make the offense look better. I doubt it.

I said all along that I'd be happy with improvement. 30 games in an we've seen none. The offense is worse than under Chimp.

That being said, if I saw some improvement and I might begrudgingly support the guy. And yet I can't imagine it. He is so stuck in the Run and Punt offense that there is no way I can imagine him changes. (A screen pass is just a substitute for a toss sweep.) Deep down HE IS the guy who lost 9-6 to Les Miles in "the game of the century" (pffffffft). He scored six points with arguably the most loaded roster ever assembled in college football history.

He was never a guru, he was never going to fix the offense, and he was never a fit for us.

He might make them happy at Ole Miss or Oreygone State. They'd be happy just to keep it close sometimes.

Yeah, I’d support the guy if he showed any promise. But like you said, 3 years in and we’ve actually digressed. He needs to be shown the door after we finish 5-6 or 6-5 against one of our weakest schedules since the conference expansion. The experiment has provided all the data necessary to make an informed decision.
