Good post. We have a tendency to launch it up early. I'd like to see more of an effort to set up open looks and get the ball in the paint. Then again, if it were that simple, I suppose we'd already be doing it.

Regardless, we have to shoot better if we want to go deep in the tournament. We clanged the front end of the rim an awful lot last night. It had me wondering if we had tired legs.

Thanx 78, I like to refer to the tourney every year when you see teams like the 11-14 seeds, such as Belmont, Davidson, Stephen F Austin (before their coach went to Illinois), North or South Dakota Jackrabbits, Northern Iowa, Butler etc. The point is these teams do not have the athletic ability that we do, etc. thus they have to come up with specific sets and motions to get their guys good looks. Mind you many of their players are good shooters, but they can't create their own shot. I am not saying we have to be methodical b/c we have guys that are athletic, but it would be nice to borrow some of those actions and just see if we can get a few better looks in the half court, instead of always using Cheese to penetrate, hope for a double team and then him being able to get the pass to the open guy. You really can't go changing now, but UF has gone into the tourney and gotten beaten by those types (Manhatten, Creighton, Butler, etc). Too big of an opening in college hoops this year not to try and take advantage of it.

Hayes, I think missed FT's because of fatigue. He was the only inside guy we had.

Most of the team looked tired, that results in those threes being way short, at least that is my opinion.

We won ugly yesterday and I will take it.
As several have said, we made terrible decisions regarding shot selection but overall came off looking like the smarter, more disciplined team only because UK is a cluster.
This is the part where Dick Vitale reminds me of what a great coach Cal is. He has to constantly remind us of this because you would never know when watching his teams play.
I thought White did a good job of keeping our guys focused given how poorly we shot the ball.

As to all the "mockers of the critics" my only complaint with White has been and continues to be his passive approach to officiating. This didn't really come into play yesterday due to the stunning fairness of the officiating in total yesterday. I, like many, assumed we would get hosed like we normally do but I thought that the officiating was reasonable so no reason for White to step out of his comfort zone.

I hope we stay focused Wednesday because we should handle SCAR easily but not if we get sloppy.

Looks like this team's Hallmark Character is that they're so very capable of losing to anybody, they just don't -- somehow? And we believe we don't believe in them. With nagging injuries, mysterious concussions, non-shooting shooters, impatient non-accurate heavers, low-key passive watcher White, it seems a "when's it gonna start season?" = less joy, more worry watching it all. Grow Gators!

While I still have concerns about this team and some of White’s coaching tendencies, I really want to see what happens when we get our bigs roster in the 80-100% range. 2 concussions and 2 ACLs - our presence in the paint is about 20-30% of what it could be... and we only have ONE SEC loss so far.

You're so tedious, windbag. Just enjoy the win already. We have one of the highest scoring offenses we've EVER had. Our team will look different when Egbunu is back. If you want to go back to the Don DeVoe days, go back without me. None of today's kick-ass players want to play that style. It's for the teams without talent. We're a Dribble Drive team now. And we score a lot.

I meant compared to past Gator teams. Under Billy D our identity centered around being a great defensive team. We have struggled in the past to score like some Duke or Kentucky teams because we lacked the firepower. Not counting the "Oh-4's," our shooters have often been very average (Boykin, Walker, even Beal was average). We have an incredible ability to score right now. Heck, we almost ran Duke off the court. So to complain about it is beyond silly. It's a style of play that looks unbeatable when the ball is going in and looks stupid when it's not... Last night wasn't pretty. We're missing some chess pieces. But anyone who thinks White isn't game planning how to attack on offense is naive.
