Hi guys. My first post although I've lurked for a while. I'm a 96 grad, so I got SPOILED with SOS. Then Zook who at least recruited awesome, then Meyer. So I had it in my mind that we would always be great, or at least every other coach great. I honestly thought Muschamp would work, and the 2012 season happened. Even though our offense stunk, we won 11 games and had a SUFFOCATING defense. I thought that was going to be our new M.O. and I was ok w it. Then 2013 and 2014 happened and I knew it was time for a change. I honestly wanted Muschamp gone after 2013 and I REALLY wanted Franklin from Vandy. But by 2014 there didn't seem to be any slam dunks. I didn't like the McElwain hire but I bought in eventually because he was an offensive guy and won NCs at Bama and had exciting teams at CSU. Wow.........fooled. I felt like Mullen wasn't as good as Meyer, but I think he's better at coaching then Zook, Champ, or McElwain. I bought into the offseason S&C hype and the first game gave me hope. Deep down I think I knew we weren't that good, but I didn't see us getting pushed around on both LOS by UK. Now I don't know what to think. I have never been a season ticket holder, as a 19+ year AF vet (retire next year!!!!), haven't been close enough. But I've gone to 1-2 games most years no matter where I was stationed. Now I'm in Melbourne, FL and I can't justify driving 3 hours each way to see this. I'm just done.

Put it this way, I'm taking 2 of my boys (I have 7 kids lol--all with same wife---;) ). to their first football trip this weekend. I WAS going to take them to CSU on Sat, then drive to Jax, stay Sat night in Jax, and then do Jags-Patriots because my boys like the Jags. But instead, we are driving up to Jax Sat, check out downtown, then go to the game Sun. Like sofla said, I am a passionate Gator, but I'm also rational, and I can't justify spending time/effort/money on this. I will record games on DVR, and then check score to see if it's worth watching. But I probably won't watch a game live this year. And when my DirectTV contract expires, I don't see renewing it.

I sincerely hope that Mullen can turn us around in 2-3 years, but our lines looked worse against UK last Sat then they ever did v. UK even under Mac. That was the last straw for me. I have friends who do GREAT tailgates and I was looking forward to them, but honestly the thrill is gone. If I watch the game live I will get sucked in and then pissed, so now better for me to record, and if they lose/play like crap, I know to just delete. Life is too short.

Like all of you, I sincerely hope we come back sooner than later, but I too have this fear that a combination of issues may result in Spurrier and Meyer being aberrations, and we are now back to "normal". I will keep hoping that someday I will watch live games again, get excited again. Heck if a miracle occurs (and I mean miraculous lol) that we win the next 3 games, I'll probably drive up for LSU to experience it. But if what I expect happens, I'm done making trips.

Sorry for the long first post, but sofla's post really resonated with me. It's like exactly how I feel. I too don't think my kids will have the same passion for UF, and that makes me sad too. But at the end of the day, we do have to remember that life is much bigger than how many football wins we have.

Thanks for listening
Kevin

Im told if we give Mullinz time, he can make us back into a 7-5 team in five to six years, if he gets the right QB/FB hybrid.

South Alabama is on line 2 wanting to schedule a game. GA Southern on line 3. They think they can boatrace us next time.

I walked by a guy yesterday in the grocery store who had a FSU T-Shirt and hat on. It’s Nevada, that doesn’t happen often. I thought about talking smack to him and then stopped myself knowing I had absolutely no room to talk.

I shrugged my shoulders and walked away. It’s embarrassing to be a Gator.

But he is on track for a crappy 2nd class which is unheard of with a new coach at these type of schools except with Mac of course.?
If you assume you will fail you will. Successful people don't do that.

Fortunately nothing counts until the players sign on signing day. Anyone can flip. We have plenty of slots available to get to the #10 class and Mullen is not a lazy recruiter like Mac.

With Mac being a lazy recruiter the last 2 years Mullen has a lot of ground to make up. Mullen's hard work should get UF a #10 class.

IF we get more of the same on the field, I don't know if he is going to get a top 10 class. Lets all be honest, we need a better class than a #10 class. If we are going to have real change we need a top 5 class.

Establishing relationships matters in recruiting. With Mac focusing more on losing, drinking beers and barbecuing the last 2 years it will make it hard for Mullen to get to higher than #10.

The 2020 class should be good with Mullen's hard work ethic and the top tier UF football center being under way for that 2020 classes use.

So, wait til next next year, huh?

Yeah, I remember you pumpers assuring us that Butters would be a great recruiter but he needed four years to eastablish relationship coz he wasnt from around here.

A few weeks ago we were told Millins couldnt recruit bc the kids needed to see that Mullinz excellence on the field.

But now it is wait til NEXT next year.

Got it.

If you are waiting for the 2020 class, he is already fired. He walked in knowing the situation. You know you get three years to start to show real progress. The whole establishing relationships has been played out for the last decade. Where you not the one trouting how Mullen is the best recruiting head coach by this transitional class? That means either he isn't or he isn't. If he is, we will be in the top 5, if he isn't be better update his assistant coaches promptly because if we get more of what we have seen thus far, we will be coach shopping again at the end of 2020.

Just a recap didn't drinking beers and going to strip clubs help Ohio State recruiting? That's the rumor at least.

As I have said Mullen has to get through the next 2 years. The 2019 class won't be able to use the UF football center till they are juniors. So we need recruits focused on playing time which hopefully Mullen can still get some flips on.

With UF installing both a new defense and offense , UF is a work in progress. We will see if the OL and DL , safeties and LBs can start getting fewer missed assignments as they learn the new system.

Of course not.

You think Donkey and NV are UF fans? With fans like them........Inherit a 4-7 team and after one loss you are toast. Actually with them you are toast before your first loss.
