My opinion of the team's from that article:

1. North Carolina- very solid team. One of the best offenses. Plays little defense, relies heavily on big men. Can easily win it all

2. Gonzaga- best overall team this year, regardless of what ESPN etc say. They can beat teams at any pace, inside, outside, and plays great defense due to their big men and pg. Should have the best odds to win it all

3. Kansas- really good shot, a bit guard heavy. Really great guards though.

4. Duke- I don't think they should be here. Too reliant on jumpshots, no defense, good defensive teams can control as long as they score

5. Arizona- good team but I don't think they are good enough an any area to win, but they could have a chance

6. Villanova- probably 2nd or 3rd best team right now. Not a big inside game and relies on 3pters. Defense can be good. Decent shot to repeat

7. Oregon- They were held to 16 pts in a half against Cal. Not sure they are consistent enough vs good teams to win it all

8. Louisville- I really like them. Good bigs and a good guard in Mitchell. They will go as far as long as their PG Snider steps up. They can defend but can go in scoring droughts

9. Kentucky- I know I hate them, but I think they will go a decent ways in the tourney. They are guard heavy which is a good thing for them, plus 1 really good big that can take them to the title

10. Purdue- Best bigs in the country. As long as their guards contribute a title could happen. Probably the team I least want to play in the tournament. Swanigan is a beast

All that being said. I think we can beat all those teams. It will just depend on matchups. Also, this year there is a high probability that the Title goes to a team not on that list

I think it's Carolina and Kansas.
Louisville would be my next best, then Nova.
Agree on Duke being over-rated.
If the Zags make the final four, I'll eat my own shorts. :bart: Don't get me wrong, I like them and I get to hear all the hype being out here in Washington, but they always choke. Elite 8 at best - at least that's what my bracket will show.
Oregon is way over-rated. They face a tough D (especially perimeter) in the tourney, and they'll crumble. I'll throw Zona in the Oregon boat.
I watched UW play the other day on TV vs. another low level Pac-12 team, and Noah Dickerson (the kid who could be helping out for the Gators right now with Bu out - but decided to go to UW because Billy wen to OKC) is their best player. The Pac-12 is not good, outside of Zona, UCLA and Oregon - and they're all suspect.
Kentucky's youth could be a distraction in the tourney, especially in a venue where the crowd may be inclined to root against them.
Do we belong in this discussion? If we beat KY at Rupp tomorrow, you bet yer ass!

Not crazy about Lville, they seem to struggle scoring. I do, however, love Purdue. Swanigan is a man-child, and their guards can reallly shoot it. Then again, I had them picked to go deep last year and we all know how that went

Side note- besides UF ( ), I'm picking UCLA to win it all.

Not even close to enough defense being played by UCLA, and Zona is about as overrated as it gets.

I'd normally agree about the defense but I think UCLA is that good on offense to make up for it. They are insanely good on O

I don't think ucla can win it all but they could definitely make the final 4. They are insanely good on offense.

DOWN goes Gonzaga!! BYU 79 Zags 71. OWNED and DESTROYED!! Undefeated no more baby!!

That will actually help them probably. Don't want the weight of an undefeated season hanging on you going in. They are a good team but I doubt they can win 6 straight in the tourney.

This team just needs to regroup and make the finals of the SEC tournament or win it and that should secure a 3 seed for the tournament. Winning the regular season SEC is pretty much out the door now even if UK lost due to the tiebreaker. A 3 seed would be a big accomplishment after what was expected early.

Somehow, despite being 3rd in the RPI, 5th in BPI, 5th in KemPom's ratings, and 8th in the Sagarin ratings, Lunardi has us as a 4 seed in today's bracketology.

I mean, he's almost perfect on the tourney field every year, but I just don't see why we're seeded that low.

I saw that and knew some of these numbers. I think some of it is UF's record against the top 50 compared to say Butler.

Still Linardi is ok on picking the field. He is less ok on the seedings. He also might be figuring in UF for a loss at Vandy and a loss in the SEC tourney and a 4 at the end of the line. Whether he starts projecting at this point in time or not, I am not sure.

The way I understand it, his projections are based off if the season ended right now.

Edit: Butler has also lost to St. John's (121 RPI) and Indiana St. (216 RPI) this year. We don't have a single loss outside the top 50.
