I did not go to the practice, nor have I watched it nor will I. Not b/c I am not in the Cousin Eddie camp, but I have never been able to discern anything watching one of these "games", so I gave up long ago. As much as I think Cousin Eddie was a very poor hire, I will cheer for the players and the team and hope I am proven wrong and will objectively judge based on quality of play, etc. in the regular season, not on who plays QB, or how many points they score or how many silly trick plays they run. I did read much of the thread and most seem relatively objective and it reads like we are headed somewhere around the .500 mark give or take a game on either side. However I heard from an outsider with no axe to grind, that for the better part of the spring the offensive line was horrendous and we all know that is the backbone of any offense. It appears that some saw the same in the practice so I will only hope the OL improves before the regular season.

After watching the spring game it's clear to me we're still struggling on the o-line, although we are blocking the inside power well enough to hammer out 3-4 yards a carry consistently. Pass blocking is still an adventure. Emory Jones is the future at QB, but he isn't ready yet. Trask is the better QB for starting now, but neither him or Franks instills much confidence. It will be interesting to see which QB Mullen goes with. I feel like Franks will give us fewer 3 and outs, but fewer scoring drives as well. It almost seemed like they asked Trask not to run the ball at all yesterday. We've seen him run in a spring game before and the kid has enough wheels to hurt a defense when they don't account for him.

Overall, it was nice to see a lot of the baby fat trimmed from our players, as we're actually starting to resemble a SEC team. My gut tells me this is going to be another painful year to watch, but at least we're going to look like we actually practice. I think this staff is good enough to win the games we're supposed to, and I wouldn't be surprised if we pull an upset or two. I'm expecting most of our games against teams with similar talent to be close, but also expecting to see guys like Emory Jones get valuable playing time against cupcakes; something that hasn't happened around here since Muschamp took over.

Agree with basically everything, and especially the bold part. We’ve seen him run in other spring games and he runs plenty well. Not really sure why he didn’t keep on any of the zone reads. Just go to the :55 and 2:55 mark from the 2016 Spring game clip below. He’s no burner but he can run enough to be effective IMO.

Doesn't matter that you dislike the FACT that Trask can run as well as Franks. It is what it is.

As long as you believe I guess reality can be whatever you want.

But zero yards rushing in the spring game and 6 yards in HS are still real FACTS, not just a hope you made up.

The ironic thing is if Franks threw when he ran and ran when he threw, he'd probably have a tenth as many yards rushing.

If that sounds like one large accident, it should.

Well, we are only 14 practices in, so the offense looking like an accident is to be expected, I guess.

Im sure we were hoping for more however.

Can we quit acting like Franks can run? He runs like a giraffe and is only useful in a straight line, something he'll rarely see in real games. His rushing yards in the spring game were a joke, the defense just let him run by them.

Trask isn't exactly Michael Vick himself, but Franks is not significantly better.

I wouldn't call him hopeless. He has a hot girlfriend.

Donkey added Franks passing TD to McGriff to his numbers too

I don't have the numbers. I understand our shameful SID did and added the Trash pass to Lawrence Wright also (which should have been a int obviously).

I believe however the 5.5 and 5.8 yards per pass numbers were with those sham yards removed.

A giraffe? Maybe a 3 legged giraffe. He's maybe half the passer of Trask and reads the defense as well as Jordan Reed. If we don't figure out something fast its going to be a long year. Can only hope for another transfer or emory picks things up quickly.

What the hell? You guys were all hot to trot on scrimmage numbers a week ago now they are all sham?

8-12 vs 12-24

95 yard rushing and 2 TDs vs 0.

Now all sham?

But the first scrimmage still matters?

The whole damn game was a sham, but one thing remained obvious: Franks has absolutely no clue what to do when he drops back to pass.

Trask looked significantly better in the pocket, and has a big arm, too.

I consider Mullen smarter than Chimp and Butters, so I'm going to assume that he knows when a QB sucks balls. Who knows? The start of the season is going to be very interesting.

Yeah, I'm having trouble reading him right now. What I expect is Franks out there in a "fvkk it up as little as possible role" with EJ being rushed to the field.

What I'd prefer to hear is Toney and Jackson getting lots of reps in the fall, with Franks, Trash, and Allen on a bus.
