This article really grinds my gears... Since when are the Gators NOT one of the top 1-2 teams in the SEC (now, apparently).

https://www.cbssports.com/college-b...-early-projection-has-kansas-and-duke-at-top/

Hell, half of the SEC (+FSU) is included in this projection!

Considering how last year's team made a habit of losing nearly every game after they reentered the polls, I hope they aren't ranked at all. Just win and prepare for March. The rankings in Basketball are really insignificant.

I kind of liken him to a combo nation between Green, Calathes, and Wilbekin

Let's see....
Passing and vision of Calathes, floor general and mid range game of Green, D and ability to get in the lane of Wilbekin? This could be interesting.

Well when an author says:

Eric Fawcett GatorCountry said:
His most electrifying skill is definitely the ability to use 2 or 3 dribbles to create a lane before rifling a pass to a cutting opponent for an easy bucket at the rim.

(emphasis added) perhaps their analysis should not be taken too seriously. If in fact Nembhards best ability is the live ball turnover for an easy bucket at the rim, he probably won't play much next year. Also you should heavily discount anything taken from the most homer gator site on the internet that runs a UK basketball message board on their site.

All of that said, I think Nembhard looks promising. He seems to have a decent controlled handle. Hopefully it will translate to this level. (Heck even Calathes had a bit of issue with SEC guards and being a big guard against them.) Nembhard also looks to have a decent offensive game and a good basketball IQ. It remains to be seen if his passes translate to SEC competition. I personally have seen nothing to indicate Nembhard will be a Wilbekin level defender particularly as a true frosh, but then no other UF player has been either.

BTW, Chiozza's and Koulechov's teams faced off tonight in the Portsmouth Invitational. Both had bad shooting nights:

https://docs.wixstatic.com/ugd/9dbc28_8be6061fcb6149cfba97588c77d1144d.pdf

Chiozza: 3 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists, 1 turnover in 23 minutes on 1 for 6 shooting, 1 for 5 from behind the arc.

Koulechov: 6 points, 5 rebounds 1 turnover in 25 minutes on 2 for 10 shooting, 2 for 7 from the arc.

Like seeing this...

Well I would like it better a year UF had proven ball handlers, but a challenge is always good. I wonder if UF will get UTx in the SEC-Big12 Challenge? So far UF has had KU, at KU, UWVa, at OU, and Baylor. I suspect UTx has to be coming up.

I guess I better post this before I forget. I was trying to wait to see the World Select Team measurements from the Nike Hoop Summit. Nembhard was on the World Select Team that beat the USA team 89 to 76 I think though there is some weirdness in the box score:

file:///C:/Users/Jim/Downloads/2018%20Nike%20Hoop%20Summit%20%20%20Box%20Score%20%20%20Final%20%20%202018%2004%2013pdf.pdf

Nembhard scored 5 points on 1 for 3 shooting with no 3s attempted and 3 of 4 shooting from the FT line and dished out 4 assists with only 1 turnover in 22:17 of play.

This is maybe a bit older, but I just saw it tonight:

http://www.gatorsports.com/2018/04/white-deaundrae-ballard-a-wildcard-next-season/

Here is an except:

Brockway said:
White: Deaundrae Ballard a ‘wildcard’ next season

Florida swingman Deaundrae Ballard endured an up-and-down freshman year and played sparingly in the second half of the season.

But Florida coach Mike White still has high hopes for the 6-foot-5, four-star prospect from Atlanta.

“He is a wildcard,” White said at his end of the season press conference on Wednesdy. “That’s an interesting one … I am completely up in the air of what to do offensively and he is a guy that potentially could flourish as much as anybody with a change.”
