I never remember a University President doing something like that when it came to hiring a new coach. Usually they let the AD handle most of that stuff. I guess he knew the support Spurrier had and was going to make it clear his guy was going to get the job if he wanted it. I think Meyer hadn't really even let his intentions out publicly at that time. Either way we were guaranteed a top hire because the choices were basically Meyer or Spurrier unless Meyer would have went to ND.

I was going to put an SEC Title(within 3 years) but then I thought people will say I am setting the bar too high. How about...at minimum a ten win season by year three...is that acceptable?

I think we can win the East by year 3, but not the SEC. Our OL is going to take some time to develop and I'm not confident we can be one of the best teams in the country by then becuase of it. Put it this way...if Mac turns out to be another bust that has to be fired, then Foley needs to step aside. That said...ain't gonna happen. Mac is the man for the job!

Being an AD at an SEC school is NOT all about football, however football PAYS the freight at every SEC school (sans UK). With that said and regarding football ONLY ( I repeat, football ONLY), my screen name sums up how I feel about the thread!

That's right. Nobody gives a rip of whether softball, track and volleyball do well. Besides, how hard can it be to attract great coaches to Florida. He's still Fooley to me and should be replaced by someone who understands the importance of FOOTBALL.
