ORLANDO, Fla. — The prospects participating in the Under Armour All-America game checked in on Tuesday. There was plenty of Florida Gators recruiting scoop to be had.ecruiting scoop.from the UA check in.
Lakeland (Fla.) four-star wide receiver
James Robinson confirmed a recent 247Sports’ report stating Florida has really turned up the heat in his recruitment of late. The Gators are pushing to keep the 6-foot-2, 190-pound target in state. Robinson himself is very open to the Gators despite the full-court press coming later in the cycle. Some close to Robinson are upset the push wasn’t there from the start, but it does not appear that will factor significantly into his final decision. The general feeling continues to be that Robinson will ink with the Gators on National Signing Day.
Florida continues to be in great shape for top-100 cornerback
Christopher Henderson, a former Miami commit. With Alabama unable to flip
Stanford Samuels or
Shaun Wade, it’s worth keeping tabs on the Crimson Tide as Henderson is slated to take an official visit to Tuscaloosa on January 13. However, it sounds like the Gators have extended the lead so much for Henderson, there might not be enough time left in the cycle for anyone to catch up.
Alabama has long been considered the heavy favorite to land Madison (Ala.) James Clemens defensive lineman
LaBryan Ray. However, the 6-foot-4, 255-pound prospect does not sound as if he is the stone-cold lock to the Crimson Tide as many believe. Sure, the smart money still remains on Alabama, but Florida getting the final visit before National Signing Day at least gives the Gators continued hope. The third team in this race is likely Tennessee, and they should continue to be considered a factor in this recruitment.
If you were looking for more clarity on the recruitment of Loganville (Ga.) Grayson offensive tackle
Tony Gray, I’m not sure you got much. The 6-foot-5, 290-pound prospect openly admits playing games with the media to keep them guessing on his final destination. From what Gray would say on Tuesday, it sure sounds like Florida is in great shape to land his pledge. I would still caution against writing Gray’s name down in ink when filling out your mock classes due to the misdirection that has been constant from Gray the entire process
The family of Austin (Texas) Westlake linebacker
Levi Jones has a long-standing relationship with Florida defensive coordinator
Randy Shannon. That is a big reason the Gators will get an official visit from Jones on January 13. However, both Florida State and Texas A&M are also considered serious threats in this recruitment as well.
