I don't hate Peyton like some in the Gator nation seem to. He was good for us in college. With the national exposure he got and the continuing beat downs by Spurrier, he made our program shine. I thank him for that. Really the only two things I don't like about him are 1). He's a whiner/wuss on the field and 2). the national media portrays him as some kind of legend. He's not even in the three or four best qbs of his generation.
Regardless, I have a question to posit to the board. Which of the other quarterbacks in the playoffs getting a ring will hurt Manning most? For the sake of not delving into the obvious, let's eliminate Brady. For some unfathomable reason, there is sometimes debate about who is the more prolific QB out of the two. If Brady won a Super Bowl, that would forever rest that debate. So he's an obvious pick. Newton isn't winning a Super Bowl so let's not waste our time there.
I think that Rodgers winning a second ring would really, really hurt Manning's legacy. If Rodgers can stay healthy, he could go down as the greatest QB of all time. A Super Bowl ring for Rodgers would push Manning even further down the list of top tier QBS in the last 20 years. I think it would be a big step in eliminating any of the nonsense talk of whether Peyton is "best ever."
My second pick would be Luck. Luck would have to beat Manning at home, which would really sting for Manning. Luck is the reason why Peyton isn't in Indianapolis anymore. Luck would match everything Peyton did and so much earlier. It could be quite devastating.
Just wondered the boards thoughts. These aren't predictions. Just hypotheticals on what would be worse for MAnning. Also a general Peyton is overrated thread.
