Competent interim??? WTF are you talking about? The guy was 2-26 as HC at New Mexico. He may be a good recruiter relative to our current coaches, which is a pretty low bar, but all this talk about "Locks" being some kick azz coach and all the love you're giving the guy is over the top and very premature.
I'm glad other people got to it before I could. There was also that little incident where he punched one of his assistants and was suspended for it.So Law is dead set against 21-16 coaches, but he loves a 3-31 coach?
Who knows what the deal is. He may have some clauses that prevent him leaving early. Contracts can get crazyYou would think 1 of 24 analysts wouldn't be that important to playoff prep and could come on down to help with recruiting needs for us if it is indeed Locksley.

Is Kiffin still going to be on their sidelines for playoff games
Everyone's contract is different. I can't imagine Locksley's support staff position having a buyout. I also can't imagine Saban keeping him around if he has inked a deal. Locksley's main draw is as a recruiter. So why keep him around if he is going to recruit against you?Is Kiffin still going to be on their sidelines for playoff games or not? Didn't Kirby stick around with them last year during playoffs? If yes, then is it because they're contractually obligated to, or they just choose to.

I'm happy to get the guy for his recruiting, but if we need an interim, I hope to hell it isn't him.

Best bet is that Mac just wants to wait until the bowl game is over and get some momentum coming out of the dead period.

I think the dead period goes thru the 3rd, so I'd guess Locksley would be announced prior to then if it's trueOk, that makes sense then. So I guess if true we'll hear something maybe a day or so after bowl game.
Edit: if we do get Cristobal, is it too late for Leatherface to reconsider?
JFC it was New Mexico... at a time that the WAC decided to self destruct and when they were serious question where their football program was even going to continue. Belichick with Saban and SOS as coordinators ciuldnt win there. Was it a bad choice to take the job? Sure but you may have not heard but many southern schools dont seem to hire black men.Competent interim??? WTF are you talking about? The guy was 2-26 as HC at New Mexico. He is a competent play-caller and one of the best recruiters on the staff of great recruiters.
And he is not a GD Caine. Id rather see us rehire Zook as a interim than a caine and everyone knows I dont like Zook.
Do people really want a cocaine as the interim?
I also said keep an interim if necessary but dont rush into another terrible fvkking rushed hire, even if it means waiting a year ala Ohio St.

I am pretty sure Lane is staying on as OC through the playoffs unless Saban fires him after this press con.

The very first sentence makes it seem like he is still on staff...
"Lane Kiffin couldn't help but make a crack at Nick Saban in one of his final press conferences as Alabama's offensive coordinator."
