Yeah, I wasn't really implying that you were bashing. I just hear it all the time, and that 2009 team gets so much heat for being a step-down, when people forget how much was lost. And more so than anything, there was a noticeable drop in hunger, which is also quite normal. Look at the noles right now. Look at Alabama in 2010 or even last year. Teams lose focus and intensity all the time when they've had success. Part of the deal, and much more the issue than Daz.

I do think it was a step down, and I think offensively that Addazio calling plays did hurt. We did rely on Tebow's ability to run too much in 2009. Addazio did a much worse job in 2010. How an OC has JB running the option at Alabama, that just horrible game planning. The loss of hunger in 2009 was also a factor, as there were many. But in the end it was a 13-1 team, and still one of the greatest teams in UF history.

I think the buyout on McElwaine is overstated. He would not command as high an annual salary as some of the other names so that $7.5 million could be amortized over the length of the contract.

There is a certain point that a buyout (and many other attempts to limit an employee's ability to change jobs) become a restraint on trade and therefore is contrary to the law. 7.5 mil is unlikely to be found to be reasonably related to the amount of money it would take to replace him or any loss that that CSU might suffer. There's a strong chance that buyout isn't enforceable.

I'll say it again, it's seriously possible that a lot or most of these candidates may not even be interested in the job. That may make it very difficult for foley to make a homerun hire. This possibility has me worried

Not true, at gunpoint you can make people do almost anything you want them to do. According to state records, Foley has a concealed carry permit.

Would you be happy with this hire? I think that he might be the most logical choice.
