ASPCA should give Bostic an award for putting him out of his misery.

Honestly, if the owners don’t want their QBs hit then put them in non-contact jerseys and don’t allow them to run the ball. These puzzy rules are literally impossible for a defender to operate within.
That hit used to be called football. They need to make a simple rule change. QB can be fully protected as long as he's behind the line of scrimmage. Once he decides to run, he's no longer a QB and all bets should be off. Run at your own risk.

Jeebus. Are you people nuts? Certainly in the 70s at least you couldnt hit a sliding player.

It was just a personal foul and not targeting ejection obviously.

Not a fan of the sliding rule. If you aren't willing to get hit, don't run with the ball.

Jon Bostic is 29 years old. The entire time he's been alive its been highly illegal to hit a sliding quarterback, much less helmet to helmet like that. Its a foul much like grabbing the facemask, it doesn't matter if you "meant" to do it or not. If it happens, its a penalty.

Close. Slide rule was 1985.
You still couldnt hit a guy who was down before that. He is down the second his thigh, ass, elbow whatever hits the ground. Even a RB who slips or whatever, you just cant come blast him. You just touch him (in NFL).

True, but before that the qb wouldn't have been considered down just because he slid.

And you do realize that in the NFL you aren't down from just slipping. Someone has to cause you to be down or you have to give yourself up.

I may not be old enough to remember that hit being legal or not but I am old enough to remember a time when swamp donkey wasn't such a f@ggot about a hit.
