Trinity Christian Academy OT Austin Barber decommitted from Minnesota. Do we take a shot? It isn’t like we are killing it with 4 stars this year. It looks like he has a nice frame to work with.

Sure, why not. From my experience, most good OLinemen are products of time in the system and coaching, not HS ranking. He has the size to be a monster and is a local kid. I'm in.

Its hard to teach size and strength. everyone talks about S&C programs but the truth is most colleges have weight rooms.

even with a good s&c program the guys like Ethan White who arrived on campus as the strongest dude in the state tend to leave a few years later as the strongest dude in the state, just stronger.

Meh, either way. I agree with @soflagator that rankings don’t mean much with O linemen. It’s more about proper development. Not entirely, but that’s mostly the case. Judging from our current state, DT will be a lot more pressing need. And we’re running dangerously low on numbers. And it appears we’re getting in on a lot of players lately, but I just don’t see the availability.

we are sitting on 26 offers.

I don't really count Rucket, that everyone knows will not qualify and will likely go junior college, but that still has us at 25. there's no room at the inn unless you get rid of some of the 8 defensive backs.

That's not fair. Some of those DBs will be safeties, LBs and maybe even DEs.

Its only year 3. Its a process. Patience.

Next year....

Well not next year, but the year after next is the year we get all the gooduns?

you mean it's only year three and more of the safeties will move to de. you're probably right.

Why not? He won't transfer after 3 years of sitting on the bench. Hopefully, he can be a productive player for his final 2 years. Unless he goes full MIKE on us and fails to make the special teams lineup after 5 years.

Rivals 250 2021
Alabama 16 (only have 23 commits, 2 seats atleast open, although they always seem to sign 27 or so)

Ugly 5 (only have 18 committed, 7ish empty seats). weird class for them. let's hope kids are finally figuring out that Kirby Shart is just Will Duncecap in a different color jersey.

Both Alabama and Ugly have been in the 18-22 for 4* the last 5 years. Multiply that times four recruiting classes and see what the roster deficit is for a team landing 20 4* versus a team landing 10.

We may no longer be in the back of the bus and maybe with LSU having an idiot coach and people finally figuring out what Kirby Shart is an idiot too maybe at least we can get in a second or third row seats. However Trailerbammer and OSU still drive. Signing 11 top kids while they sign 20+ is no path to championships.

Our staff isnt going to out-prepared theirs. Alabama has more ofdensive QA staff and consulants than we have assistant coaches, quality coaches (offense and defense) and recruiting staff combined. It is why they're always prepared and always seem to know your playbook.

pretty sure Mike was on the field goal team.

what a waste of 5 years of scholarship. hard to imagine that a kid who played seven-man football in high school would struggle.
