In a lot of ways, This team reminds me of the 2006 team.
Leak the accurate passer and finding the right guys to throw too.
Tebow the runner.
A lot of close games.
Two 1 point wins and a loss at Auburn.

For sure, the defense wasn’t as bad as current but, for some reason, offense is the name of the game this year.

Still, there were a lot of games I spent screaming at the TV or was asked to please watch my language in the Swamp.

We had beaten Bama that year early and beat Arkansas in the SECCG.

To the present, Hell, I really didn’t think we would beat Ga.
We did, soundly.
We blocked their all world talented D line, We ran effectively, we passed Against their 5 star all world D backfield and scored. We stopped their run, after the first qtr., and harassed their QB , against their all world 5 star 3 deep Offensive line.
Granted, they did have a couple of injuries that could have helped but, we beat their ass.

I keep hearing Herbstreit proclaiming Florida can’t play with Bama , but Georgia can.

Well, we beat Ga.

Is it possible with Covid, an all SEC schedule and the overall climate in this country right now that our guys are simply, tired?
Mentally and physically.

They know the East is ours.
They know we are going to Atlanta.
I’m hoping, they’re going through the motions and getting by, to turn in their best game of the year in Atlanta.

Hoping hell, I’m confident we will play well against Bama.

Actually something very similar to last seasons great performance, albeit a loss, AT LSU.

Team reminds me more of 2011 muschamp team. Kept winning games but looked very vulnerable doing it. Except this time the defense is suspect instead of offense. Only one loss during the season, due to a fumble on a good drive towards the end of the game(just like jordan reed against UGA that year).

We had a lot of bitching on GSMB about the terrible offensive scheme, just like the bitching about the defensive scheme this year. Also had a bunch of people convincing us that because we were getting wins, it meant muschamp knew what he was doing. Don't get me wrong, I think Mullen is better than muschamp... But I am of the opinion that we will need to play well and Bama will need to play poorly (which only happens once or twice a year) for us to win.
I'm giving us about a 10-20% chance. Better than those mccelwain years where I felt like it was 1% chance against Bama though.

I'd be extremely surprised if the spread was less than 15. Alabama is obliterating everyone in their path and have scored 35+ points in 22 straight games, the longest streak in the history of college football.

Bama DLs will hit our Gator OLs harder than we have faced all year. Bama LBs will bash-tackle our ball handlers with more wrapup tackling than we've faced all year. Most probably Trask will face severe pressure many more times than all year. It will be a fight for our FB lives. I can't wait to see us conquer all odds. Go Gators, win the SEC.

Vandy and UK exposed either a weakness in our passing game or playcalling by playing zone a good majority of those games. I don't know if it's by design or if zones just confuse Mullen and he resorts back to a more lateral approach in passing but something has changed.
Mullinz (and Creyer) has always felt two safeties means you can't possibly pass. SOS salivated at cover 2.

Need to keep Trask in pooch punt formation.

Is there a reason why Dabo would leave Clemson for Bama? He has everything he needs there.

I've never understood why that idea seems to stick either. He has some history and ties there but I don't think they're strong enough.

Then there's this:

Why there’s only one way the Dabo Swinney-to-Alabama thing would ever make sense anymore

I'll save you having to read SDS and get to the point of the article. The author argues the only way it would make sense would be if Dabo is bored.

Yup.

I would not buy it for one second, but that would be the obvious, lazy media reporting b/c he is considered the best coach, along with Satan, in CFB. But look at Bama's history post Bear and their head coaching searches/hires pre Satan. All were either "Bama Men" or "Bear Men" and the only one who brought them what they care about was Gene Stallings. The only one outside that circle was Mike Price but he never walked the sidelines b/c the hookers derailed him. So finally they went and hired a guy with no Bama ties and no Bear ties, but one who was considered a very good coach with a great background. But on paper 1 national title in college and a 2 yr. stint as an NFL HC, but a lineage as a great NFL asst. Dabo has a better resume on paper than Satan had pre Bama college wise as would Leyer, college wise. Yet Satan has gone on to become the greatest college football coach, in my opinion, to have lived. Thus he has convinced the "Bear Men", that winning at the highest level trumps all and we shall fish from the entire ocean. So even tho the biggest of the big names on the college landscape would be mentioned, I think they look to the NFL, just as they did with Satan, whether the NFL guy spent time in college or not. And I am not saying it would be any of "these" guys, but I think this is how the Bama brain trusts thinks now. So let's say the day comes and Satan says bye-bye. Perhaps they think a guy who had a good run in the NFL yet may not reascend might listen to 10+MIL a year, say a Sean McVey or Kyle Shanahan. Maybe they think a guy like a Josh McDaniels or even a Brian Daboll might listen to what they have to say. And I am quite sure there is a list of dozens of another NFL names that I am not aware of, but that are considered HC guys in waiting at any level.

The one thing I know is this. If and when Satan rides off into the sunset, the Bama Trust will not tell some intern to bring in the records and stats from the mid major conferences and peruse them for 5 minutes, see who is making hay in those conferences, pick up the phone and offer one of those MAC hotshots 7 MIL. That is the FOOLEY way and BAMA will not use the FOOLEY method to hire their next HC.

Is Sileo high or is there traction here?

The only way this is true is if he (or his wife) is really sick - like cancer sick. I just don’t see him leaving coaching until he’s physically and mentally unable to handle it anymore.

While I agree fully that if we win, he wins the H, i disagree that winning the game is a requirement. If he plays well I believe he gets the H regardless of the outcome of the game because he's so far ahead of everyone else in terms of numbers and what he has around him compared to the other 3 possibilities. We are by FAR the least talented group with the sorriest defense and absolutely zero run game - the others all have massive talent, solid to great defenses and really good ground games. If its a good game and he plays well, he wins but if we lose badly and they largely shut our offense down theyll give it to someone else. It's not about the best player in the country anymore. Its about the best player on one of the best teams, usually a championship or playoff team. If we get bent over, we wont be looking like one of the best teams, and there are too many voters that will quickly pivot to fields or sunshine in that scenario. Just my opinion but its based on historical precedent.
I agree 100%. And I think the voters know where either team would be w/o their QB. Bama would be undefeated and going to the SECCG and UF would have at least 3 losses.

I could see him walking away if he wins it all this year w/ an undefeated team. But it's not likely. He doesn't seem ready to retire. He's still recruiting like it was his first day on the job. With the right QB they don't skip a beat.

Sniffin Kiffin hung 48 on Bama. Why can't the Gators. Our best hope is for such a shoot-out. It could happen.
Go Gators!!!
