I think it's time to evaluate whether Dan Mullen is the guy or not

Maybe, but even w Pitts on the field he has played stall ball for the first half of the last 4 or 5 games, with or without Pitts.

If he just called the offense like he did early in the season or like he does when he is losing by two scores to LSU hakfway through the 3rd, then he could be a champion.

But he just doesnt have it He just has to revert to Notre Dame ball.

i don’t want to hear another damn poster argue Dan’s offense isn’t anything but sideways. Did you see that stat presented tonight? We ranked 117th in passes 20+ yards attempted. With a Heisman QB.

Same thing nfl scouts have been saying for weeks...

The worst part is any one with half a brain knew mullen was going drop another game before the SECCG he shouldn't. It's his MO. He has been a head coach 12 years, this is who he is. Let's cut the bullschit. No body is really surprised we are going into the SECCG with a second loss.

I have to agree. The idea that Mullen is even remotely on even a warm seat is laughable.

Not now, no. But the idea that he’s in some sort of comfort zone because of Stricklin is wrong. He’s toast if these kind of games continue, and I think this year may have been his best chance to avoid that. But bottom line, Scott doesn’t pay the coach, and Mullen is not in an way seen as invincible or irreplaceable by those who do.

the theory that old Dorky Dan is going to coach up three stars to beat the elite coaches like Saban is hilarious.

I hope you're right, but I just don't know anymore. all I see is a pile of dirt. it's hard to convince me they're committed.

yeah we got at least two more years of this ****.

and frankly he lucked into a quarterback that he didn't want to play that forced him to play an offensive scheme that he doesn't want to play.

back to Mullinzball next year.

the sad thing is he has the ability. if he would just call plays aggressively like he does when he is down 2 scores the LSU late in the third, he would be fine and the game would be over at halftime.

instead he comes out bullheadedly trying option plays and quarterback draws just to see if it'll work this week for the entire first half.

but he has no one to blame at himself. deep down he knows it. he hired Grantham. he runs the first half stall ball offense.

I’m not saying that it’s impossible for Dan to beat Bama, but he has to overcome two of Bama’s biggest coaching weapons: Saban and Grantham.

Then it’s less than that. A bad year with a bad offense next year could be the death blow. A 9-1 season would’ve been tough to critique, regardless of what happened next week. But this one changed that.

I wish you were right but I'm no longer convinced, at all.

I mean we hired this guy with a record of two or three really stupid losses every season. that just is his resume.

we cannot act surprised.

Saban may just let his starters rest next week and just hang 45 on us.
that's really our best hope of not being totally embarrassed.

saban has generally gotten to about 40 on us and backed off. you don't want to run out a chump coach at "rival".

I know we're not really arrival anymore but when you've got a Mushchump McElstain or Mullinz making your life easier, you want them to stay for a while.

I’m right. Without advancement, or a surprise next weekend, he’s in a tough spot. Stricklin didn’t zero in on him and will not lose his job over it. I’m also not totally sure he’s making the call next time. Muschamp had the accent and Oak Hall resume. Dan has neither. I don’t like his not being received by many here, but I also don’t deny it being the case.

You are right on. The problem is the Gators may be good, but never great
with Farmer Dan at the helm. Even old Butter Teeth had better luck against LSU
than Danny Boy has. What's his head coaching record against LSU, 3 & 10?

The only chance of him leaving anytime soon comes down to two things:

1) He forces his way out, ala Butters
2) The Bull Gators put enormous pressure on management, which I don't forsee

Remember, Butters would still be roaming our sideline if he hadn't invented death threats to get out of his contract. Also, you'll recall Mullen's wife before he took the job on an interview talking about the pressure in Gainesville and how she hated the fans, etc. Mullen may decide he wants out - I'll bet he's got that woman in his ear about it all the time.
