Koetter and Dan Hawkins.

Houston Nutt was there.

Even Pederson really doesnt have Malzahn's resume, in a pathetic PAC vs Malzahn going head to head vs Saban.
Yeah they should have totally held out for 3-7 Sam Pittman:lmao:

Are we more likely to win recruiting battles with Barn now or less likely?
Uhhhh... no. But maybe they will lose a few to Kintucky who will the send a leftover to Indiana. We can then battle Indiana for that player.

We'll see. Again, I'd rather hire a proven head coach w/ an 8 year track record of winning vs. a coordinator (or say, a coach with a losing conference record?). Or they could have hired Napier, w/ a 3 year track record, or Venables who has never been a head coach, or a Beamer type, or an Eli Drinkwitz who had 1 year as a head coach, or a Sam Pittman who had never been a head coach. It's a solid hire, especially for a program that evidently had no plan prior to firing Gus.
How swonkey isn't all in on a guy named Drinkwitz is beyond me

I remember him, he was Chris Petersen's longtime OC at Boise State. He seems like a solid coach, but is there any reason to think he'll actually be better than Malzahn? I don't see it.

You know that being the Auburn head coach has to be the most high pressure gig in the SEC with Uncle Nick next door. The measure of his success will be, can he handle living in that kind of bubble? And recruit in the SEC?

No. He's the obnoxious mouthbreather who hit puberty in the 3rd grade, but still sucked at sports because he was uncoordinated and likely inbred. Front and center when it's time to pick teams, he bellows out a, "yeah boy!" with every pick by the one captain who knows all the best kids to take with the vain hope that said captain will notice him and pick him as well. He then storms off in a fit of rage due to his wounded pride of being the last available pick, refusing to join the team about to get its collective s**t pushed in, and instead heads over to the tetherball court where he Napoleon Dynamite's the rest of P.E. away, challenging any and all 1st graders and girls within shouting distance.

Wow! I had no idea. Rest assured, I'm not the same person I used to be. If I could do it over again, I would pick you for my team.

I didn't realize any of Pruitt's immediate family knew how to use a computer, much less post on a message board. Welcome aboard!

Jimmy Rains of YellaWood has more money than brains and controls Auburn athletics with the old Colonial Bank owner Bobby Lowder which at one time had over $26 billion in deposits and was one of the top 25 banks in the U.S.....anyway they don’t mind firing successful coaches, e.g. Terry Bowden, Tuberville, Cliff Ellis, Malzhan and many others...Harsin is a solid hire for them track record wise. Only time will tell if he can win big in the obviously tough SEC West.

Before the 2009 banks crash Bobby Lowder was so powerful he was the de facto President AND Athletic Director of Auburn University and employed Pat Dye because Pat knew where the bodies were buried. Due to some mortgage fraud that Lowder had no knowledge of, Obama took his bank and gave it to his black friends who he had installed at BB&T while holding them harmless for any failed loans on Colonial’s books....(know all this only from friends...)

Malzhan would be a great hire for Tinerc if they can afford to buy out their current moron.

@DKThompson: I give it less than 3 years.

So, at a school that rivals the Mets for most “little brother program” ever, going against a master in all aspects of the game, with no recruiting footprint or regional history, and having to do all of this via Zoom.

Oh, and you’re saddled with Bo Nix for at least two more years, and they just fired a coach who brought them the most sustained success since a guy who’s now a Senator.

Pro tip: rent.
