I thought Texas would holdout for 2/3 of the overall revenue before they would agree
That didn't work out, but Fooley and Fooley's knee puppet did agree to give them 2/3 of our profit if they would agree not to participate in female sports.

Im pretty sure they did a minimal appeasement to aTm by not putting them in the same pod as Tejas.

Each pod kinda looks equal based on current team strengths. Each have 2 strong teams and 2 weak teams.
I thought ATM wanted Texas every year???

Feels like this expanded conference isn’t the SEC.

SC was a natural addition, Arkansas didn’t tip the scales much. A&M and Missouri diluted it a bit but not too much. Tolerable, and A&M has all the passion, but it has felt odd having them. Going to Columbia every other year? Might as well be Des Moines.

Now we’ve added 2 heavyweights that have zero connection to the southeast. The biggest and baddest dog on the block just got much bigger and badder, but it’s the SEC in name only. It’s gone and I’ll miss it.

I liked our conference being the dominant heavyweight, but now we’re the only super heavyweight. No argument.

And Mark Emmert better get used to saying “Yes, Mr. Sankey.”

Big 12 teams to PAC or Big 10. Trailertrash leftover teams to Conference USA or USA 2.0.

The AAC teams are sitting by the phone waiting to be called up to the big leagues, but the only calls will be to expand the AAA league.

Curious where Kansas will land. They have zero football appeal but excellent hoops tradition.

Seems to me it's becoming more and more common to dispense with the geographical leanings and look at what revenue a prospective school (football program) could bring to the conference.
I think the days of alignment based on where you're located are gone.

I was listening to the SEC Network the other morning and they were playing audio clips from the Texas legislature hearings about this.
And rep after rep was lining up to drop insults on the Texas president:

"Not everyone seems happy with Texas and Oklahoma applying to be a part of the SEC.

One Texas lawmaker used an opportunity during a session to rip on the Longhorns’ football team — which hasn’t been bad but not national championship-level good in recent years — with some shots taken at the move.

Let’s set the scene: here’s state senator Lois Kolkhorst (she used to play golf at TCU) speaking with UT president Jay Hartzell. She asked about the school’s athletic budget (to which he replied, it's first or second in nation, dollar-wise)and then she said, “without a winning football team of late.”

And then?

“Three and seven against the Horned Frogs,” she added. “Maybe your fanbase would rather lose to Alabama than TCU.”

actually it's really 2-7 since TCU joined the Big 12.

A Texas state senator savagely ripped Longhorns' football team over SEC move

Soon they’ll be saying that “SEC” stands for “Sports Excellence Conference

Then Fuchs will start a campaign to rename it the “Scholastic Excellence Conference”, and soon all of the schools will be like Vandy and us.

I think we should name it the Football Confederacy.

I think Kansas lands in a good place just because of basketball. There’s only a handful of basketball programs like that and I’m sure it will be appealing. Question is do they have to take little bro with them

Literally no one was slightly interested last time either.

There is only one sport that matter$.
