Has anyone gotten more run as an up-and-comer than Matt Campbell? You can’t download a story about a big opening without seeing his name mentioned as a possible candidate. And yet all he does is consistently underachieve at Iowa State.
How can one underachieve at Iowa State? Not possible.

Cristobal would make recruiting really fun. He would dominate and load this talent up with so much talent. If he can also lure in the elite QBs, which I am sure he could do just as he does in Oregon, we would also be in serious title contention. The problem is that he doesn't seem like a great Xs and Os coach and losses some games that he shouldn't lose. He seems like a Jimbo Fisher type of coach that can build good staffs, recruit like a mad man, and have success, but also consistently drop some games here and there that he shouldn't.

I would take Napier over him and probably a few others also, but I would be okay with Cristobal as a fall back option. If he surrounds himself with a great staff this roster would be so loaded that it would be very hard to lose most of our games. He just needs to get the best coordinators and let them coordinate all of that talent.

I read that Oregon never had a number 1 ranked recruiting class before Mario became coach. He now has 4 number 1 classes in a row I believe.

One thing that has fueled Alabama for the past 10 years and now Georgia is that UF and the Florida schools have sucked so badly. They have taken our elite talent. With a coach like Mario or Napier Alabama and Georgia will become weaker because we will be able to keep a lot of that top talent in state. It's easy to cherry pick 5 star recruits from Florida when we have garbage coaches like sharklover and Mullen.

None of the names mentioned now seem like they will win anything. I didn't like the idea of hiring Cristobal, but I am warming up to it, because he could be Zook 2.0 and might make the job more appealing for a legit winner once he is fired in 2023-2024.

Why? Is he dominating now?
Recruiting very well but his league is disorganized, Oregon has the West Coast's best facilities and probably best football budget. All of that would not or may not translate to UF. Also, his staff is part of the success. Would all of them come with him? Nothing serves as a better illustration of what matters as fsu's hiring of Willie and none of his significant assistants followed.

If you like 5 losses he is your guy.

Near loss to Northern Illinois 2021
Loss to Ragin Cajuns 31-14
OT Northern Iowa 2019
Loss to K State
Loss to TCU.

He is trash. Worthless recruiter.

Another of the huge pile of "keeps the game close" losers, like Fuentes and Chimp.

IDGAF about his west coast recruiting. That is irrelevent. Is he dominating Fla and the SE? because that is what matters here.

Has he ever?

Did you see that clip of him going all gay Butch Jones a few days ago?

Absolutely should’ve killed any consideration.
And SOFLA has more tolerance for gay than most, excluding slug and matt. He is a tailor after all. If you've lost Sofla, you've lost everyone.

The thing that makes this different is the talks of an extension from Baylor. It's like coaching searches, every coach hired is the "first choice". They don't put that out unless Aranda has expressed a desire to stay.
This is coach contract negotiation 101. His name is being floated at a couple big time programs, make sure the wanna be program gets you an extension on the table to make you even more attractive and more expensive, then pick the big time program you want with an even bigger contract. If he stays at Baylor, he will be in a second tier conference in a few years and he (and his agent) knows it.

If he was at Mich. St. or BlowU, he would do what Tucker and Riley have done...parlay their success and outside interest to get a Bob Stoops' raise at programs in conferences where a team can actually make a championship run.

From a family of tailors. And if this wasn’t my son’s wedding day I’d knock your teeth out, you anti-hem-tite bastard.
