Not if I'm Billy and have already told SS that he needs the money necessary to hire his staff. Pony up and let the tennis team have a bake sale.

It’s when we reach points like this in the discussion that UF feels a bit on the smalltime side. LSU tosses out $100m for a new coach like it’s so much nothing. We ask our people to have yard sales to afford shiny new objects.

I think it's the visual they don't like. I can tell you for a fact that there was a TON of resentment towards the FB program during the SOS years due to all the attention and money going into the program from the other sports on campus. The womens soccer team was always talking shyt, so, when we won the natty in 96, UAA sent the soccer team on a European world tour where they got scrubbed up damn near every match. I remember Mo Collins sitting in the TR bytching that "we win a NC and they send the soccer team on a European vacation". Didn't sit well at all.

Thank you. I subscribe to the advanced theory of throwing shyt against the wall and see what sticks.
Not to butt in, but that’s also kinda like pouring over the Sears catalog at Christmas, dog-earing pages, circling the goodies you want, and leaving the catalog in mom’s chair, all the while knowing she was going to shop at the Dime Store! But Christmas after all is for wishing, isn’t it?!

That’s inevitable, I suppose, but it’s just plain dumb envy. The numbers point disproportionately toward football having whatever it wants. Take a back seat, ladies. How’s that for misogyny?

Who knew that this was an early glimpse of where we were going politically in the country? The sad reality is that those girls had no appreciation for the fact that football was paying their bills all the time. Their gate receipts damn sure weren’t.

Stoops was the last coordinator we hired then I thought wow this is going to change the team dynamics completely.

Usually when we hired a coordinator my thoughts range between Who? (Sidehat, that black DC that last like 3 weeks) to what the fuqs are we doing (Nussdrunk, Peas).

We’ve wasted a lot of time and money betting on the nags to beat Secretariat, haven’t we?

The soccer team never got out of the roundabout.

$1.8 million (2021) - DC/OLB Todd Grantham $1.1M- OC Bill O'Brien
$630,000 (2021) - RGC/OL John Hevesy $535- RB Robert Gillespie
$630,000 (2021) - PGC/WR Billy Gonzales $757- OL Doug Marrone
$495,000 (2021) - AHC/TE Tim Brewster $525- CB Jay Valai
$495,000 (2021) - ST/RB Greg Knox $1.5M- DC Pete Golding
$475,000 (2021) - DL David Turner $800- S Charles Kelly
$460,000 (2022) - S Wesley McGriff $700 DL Freddie Roach
$400,000 (2022) - QB Garrick McGee $695 LB Sal Suneri
$400,000 (2022) - LB Christian Robinson $575 WR Holman Wiggens
$260,000 (2022) - CB Jules Montinar

So the two charts represent what UF paid assistants last year compared to that of the highest paid staff, not surprisingly Bama's received. UF paid $6.045M compared to Bama's $7.230M a difference not that great considering the on field performance of the two teams over the past decade. Based on results I would conclude either UF grossly overpays poor performance or Bama gets by on the cheap for exceptional performance. You folks fight it out.

why would you compare the OC pay to the DC pay? you should re-arrange your list for a better comparison...

Damn, you're right. Didn't really think about it until you said it. I get that the point is that the overall total number is not that much different (relative to the difference in performance), but what's the point of individually pairing them up if you're not comparing apples to apples?

UF doesn't have an OC position listed but has a QB coach and a passing game coordinator and a running game coordinator. What do you suggest be done to rectify the apples to apples non comparison. Really, it's not hard to look at the numbers and see UF seems to be willing to pay similar to the top program even thouh this thread has about ten pages whining about how cheap we are. This does not seem to reflect that POV.

Not trying to rag on you at all, that is good information that you brought to the board.

But since you ask, I would've arranged the list like this:

$1.8 million (2021) - DC/OLB Todd Grantham // $1.5M- DC Pete Golding
$630,000 (2021) - RGC/OL John Hevesy // $757k- OL Doug Marrone
$630,000 (2021) - PGC/WR Billy Gonzales // $575k WR Holman Wiggens
$495,000 (2021) - AHC/TE Tim Brewster // ($750k) ST/TE Drew Svoboda
$495,000 (2021) - ST/RB Greg Knox // $535k- RB Robert Gillespie
$475,000 (2021) - DL David Turner // $700k DL Freddie Roach
$460,000 (2022) - S Wesley McGriff // $800k- S Charles Kelly
$400,000 (2022) - QB Garrick McGee // $1.1M- OC Bill O'Brien
$400,000 (2022) - LB Christian Robinson // $695k LB Sal Suneri
$260,000 (2022) - CB Jules Montinar // $525k- CB Jay Valai

I added Bama ST/TE coach Drew Svoboda because you didn’t have an equivalent to Tim Brewster on your list, but his 2021 $750k salary is in parenthesis because I couldn’t find it, so I used the 2020 salary of the coach he replaced, Jeff Banks.

If my math is correct, which I will caution you that it rarely is, that brings the combined totals to $6,045,000.00 UF vs. $7,937,000.00 Bama.

Maybe compare DC to DC, RB to RB, OL to OL, etc? The info was interesting but I agree the comparisons could have been lined up a little better.

Seems like constructive criticism and nothing to get all in a tizzy about.

By the way, just to brag about my ignorance of Bama's coaching staff, I did not even know before doing this little exercise that our own Robert Gillespie is their RB coach.

Now there is one who Sliingblade should bring back home I reckon mhm hmmm
