“Scared money don’t make money” couldn’t be further from how our admin operates if it wanted to be

Here’s the issue I have with that though. By his own admission Napier was extremely meticulous in choosing a school and outlined very carefully what he needed and expected. That was apparently given to him upfront. I don’t buy that they have reneged on that and now and aren’t allowing him to compete. And as I said, if we are playing this game at all, we have to know that a top quarterback is going to be expensive. We aren’t getting outbid by Miami, Ruiz or not. For all the accountability talk, it has to applied evenly and that includes missteps by the staff or there won’t be any improvement. It’s ok to acknowledge we didn’t land a recruit. The blame game gets us nowhere.

The U's QB room is much deeper than UF...I still don't get this....Rashada would have maybe 2 to challenge in 23? SEC vs ACC? New facilities?

If we learned nothing else over the last 10 years it should be that the great kids don’t care about depth charts, sometimes even to their detriment(Fields for example). It could not be any more irrelevant. You have a DLine kid who flies to Paris to announce his comment to Alabama on NSD only to be told he has to greyshirt and pay for a year. And still does it. As Bait’n said, how many 5*QBs does uga have? Again, that’s irrelevant. The canes have VanDyke who’s a Soph(I think), a highly rated QB from this past class and just landed a QB a week ago. Kids will sign where they want to go and where they are best sold.

Funny story about this that I didn't share at the time because it came from a legitimate inside source...

That kid was a Florida fan growing up, but our staff thought he might be gay and didn't want to deal with that in the locker room. Then he decides to fly to Paris, gets told by Bama he has to grey shirt and then cries about it. My guess is that ours wasn't the only staff that thought that.

Does your legitimate source know our chances of having a salvageable recruiting year?

And I’m not talking about some $400,000 a year working Wall Street stiff, flying first class and being comfortable. I’m talking about liquid.

Your thoughts anyway?
My thoughts are that Napier is doing all of the things that top recruiting programs have been doing. I'm not sure that he has the dynamic personality to be a closer himself, but he has some good recruiters on the staff.

I don't have any idea what is going on with NIL, how much money we have relative to other programs, or how much we are offering these kids relative to other programs. That HAS to make a huge difference. If you were in these kids shoes you wouldn't pass up millions because you liked the game day atmosphere at one place better than the other.

I can confirm that Bull’s who have businesses in Gainesville are being solicited by UF on players’ behalf. And not just football. Ironically as recent as last week someone in my family was approached about a deal with one of the 4 that just got booted. I don’t know if that should be taken as a lack of communication and organization or not. But they’re absolutely doing it for current students. If they aren’t putting things in place for recruits(which goes against the Wilson story from ENSD) then yes, we are toast and won’t have a chance until that gets fine tuned. But as I said earlier, I have a hard time believing that such a detail would go unnoticed when BN was negotiating his deal.

On your last part, I don’t blame kids for taking that money. I still think you’ll have plenty that are missing the bigger picture and trip over dollars for pennies if they’re sacrificing development and coaching for a short term payday. But the fact that it supposedly took 10mil to land him tells you that when we were leading for Rashada, there was some money involved. Perhaps not that much, but something. You don’t go from zero to 10 million. I in personally have no doubt that we’re fully engaged in NIL during the recruiting process.

This is what I was thinking when we were talking about guys getting $400K or even a million.

But $10 million? Hell, fuchsing Kyle Trask's rookie contract is only $5.5M over 4 years. I mean we could be looking at guys like AR-15 that stay in school because they make more money there if they aren't certain to be a first round pick.
