I too thought Frost would've been a better hire than Mullen. Nebraska just knew they found their return to prominence when Frost became their coach. Although I know Nebraska ain't near the program that once throttled us for the title, I never would've imagined he'd have struggled for so long there like he has. He can't even get bowl eligible, no way he survives this season. I remember they ran off Pelini, and he won like 9 games a year. Glad we dodged that bullet.
They are remarkably like Ut. Big and committed fan base but unable to recruit nationally like they once did.

Frost seemed a natural fit for them, cherished hero coming home etc. But without the players AND he’s in a bigger league…. I also wanted him but that’s one Stricklin got right. Not ready for prime time.

19 players out, classic disinterested bowl game, sleepwalking early, then OSU woke up and won the game. And this makes Utah a playoff contender?

Wittingham is a fine coach who gets the most out of his players. They will be disciplined. Their main advantage is experience & comfort in their system. They play fast, not much thinking, just go. Those split-seconds matter when you’re playing a more talented opponent.

Our advantages include size, speed, and talent, plus there is no tape on this team and plenty on Utah. And the noise. And the humidity. The quality of the installs in all 3 phases will tell the tale. I’m betting Billy’s staff has done that as well as possible and narrowed that gap well. You can’t short cut experience, but we have enough in the first team to let the newer guys eat some snaps and grow a bit.

Our bigs are bigger and faster on both sides. They’ll be pumped and prepared. AR will dazzle. The Swamp will be rocking.

Gators 34-24
I've been saying this for a while. In that game it shouldn't have turned out the way it did. Earlier in this thread I listed that OSU's defense was not stellar at all. Hell, ranked below UF last year. pOSU was ranked 59th, tied with Middle TN State. Utah was going to score on that team. With all that OSU was putting up with, not a good indicator and one for the knob slobbers to gloat over.

I think UF will do just fine as you say. But to Crown da Utes a playoff contender.........not so fast.

Wow...I wanted Frost at UF over Mullen...but that's not saying much.

I am embarrassed to admit it but Frost was the guy I wanted as well.

As I listen to people criticizing every aspect of his program and how incompetent he is, I have to feel like he is an indictment of UCF as well.

Question - How can a completely incompetent boob go undefeated at UCF?

Answer - UCF is a minor league program.

Back on topic.

It's really hard to believe what a dismal embarrassment of a conference the PAC-12 is. Their overall out of conference record was 16-25. Compare that to the SEC's which was 54-16. Their two best teams finished with 4 losses each, worse records than SEC runners up ole piss and kintucky.

Speaking of kintucky, that's really the apples to apples comparison with the utes. Nearly identical talent on the rosters. Disciplined teams coached by former defensive coordinators. Kintucky had a slightly better record in a better conference.

It's almost like we're playing kintucky twice to open the season.

BN brought his share too.

IMO ... Frost had more potential upside than Mullen.

:dunno:

Despite massive BN :nutswinger: , the verdict is still out.
BN brought some, but had many significant upgrades. Frost wanted to bring his entire staff, which was supposedly the deal breaker. Frost most likely would have recruited better than Cousin Eddie.

I’ve said before that the people who should be the most concerned with the Scott Frost experiment are the noles. For all the similar success Norvell had at Memphis, the one hump he couldn’t get over was beating Frost. Neither have shown the ability to translate mid major success to the big stage.

2.5 point dogs to Utah at home. Yeeeesh. What a time to be alive. Hopefully this is all perception driven based on last year's abortion and not indicative of what CBN is actually going to put on the field.

Confused why it was a deal breaker for Frost but not Mullenzez, who practically did the same damn thing?
