Spot on and totally agree with you.

:exactly:
It's think it's pretty obvious that it could be as you state it from a lost season perspective. I said earlier in a thread that it appears that it is a total defensive system failure. From talent, recruiting, previous and current coaching, schemes, ALL OF IT. Toney is having to deal with it and not all of his fault. But he may not have been prepared for the shyt show he was walking in to either. Who knows. So start getting your system in and I think Napier could be using it all as an evaluation period. One thing I like from him, unless I missed it, he's not thrown any of the players under the bus. It could and is really bad on that side of the ball. How he handles and supports these current players is key. Also, as you state, need to get those upgrades and hit the portal too. I think that we seeing the ramifications of failures of the last 10-12 years and it's hitting the bottom.

My issue if it's talent and old habits play the youth and learn from the mistakes.

If you play with these guys adjust the best you can. I'm for the former.

Agreed.

This is why I'm not totally on Toney's azz. I know he has to get it fixed and I would not envy that at all.

I think what people need to understand with both the defensive and offensive sides of the ball is that Toney and Napier are sticking to what they do and not changing their foundation for a few more wins in season one.

I am of the opinion that these guys know we are in for a long rebuild and with that we are going to have to endure the bad first. Now with that said, if the defensive side of the ball is AS bad as this year, Toney needs to be sent packing. I just think we might be better at times next year. Probably won't show up in the wins and losses column but I think we can get better.

Please Lord give us a couple stud CBs….we need a major defensive upgrade

Loyal:

We have a great DB 2023 Class so far. Sure, you never turn down a chance at a 4+ - 5*.

However, we need LB, O - SPEED, OL, TE with hands.

Could not agree with you more on that.

I've said it too that it feels like that Napier will run it just like that as you describe, damn the consequences to get it to where it needs to be. They know more than anyone really how bad things are. This whole things has to be rebuilt. If there is not improvement, agreed, get the bags packed. You cannot afford to take off one bit with recruiting in the SEC or CFB for that matter. We are paying that price now.

It's BNs team. I have no issues with him sticking to his guns this season.

But he and staff damned sure better knock it out of the ball park recruiting. Period. This cycle.

In my view, he gets a pass on this season IF it's because he's been putting most of the efforts into recruiting (ie Pell 1979). The game time coaching has been horrendous.

Also, they need to make adjustments (particularly on D) during the off season. It's not working. (and talent and/or experience is NOT the entire issue).

This one stings more than Cormani. He was the best DT on our board. We've got to start landing these guys . We were trending before the season started. This is a result of the shcit we're seeing on the field
