I basically said the same thing in another thread and got a smattering of dislikes, loonies, stoned, bans, etc. and cover gets 43 likes :sadnanner:

On a serious note, I love the banter here, I love the varied opinions and would hate to see it turn full on pumper, but theres a time for "NeGating" and it is just way too early for constant NeGating no matter how brilliant a football mind you may have. Lets note the deficiencies but not dwell on them. We all agree about the shortcomings, but I do believe our behavior has an impact on recruiting. Its not like the days of when we started on the GSMB.....people actually watch what we say. Twitter is even worse, its out their instantly. Its fine to give negative opinions or concerns about specific issues, but to so quickly label the coach Slingblade and Sunbelt Billy while mocking his every move is not only tiresome to those trying to give him a chance, it gets seen by the very recruits we are trying to attract. Are we really trying to convince the recruits that the coach is a buffoon?

Anyhow, I'm giving him a chance. That chance is 3 years seriously contending for the East against UGA. If he doesn't make the needed changes in game and in talent acquisition I will join in on the noise.

Wasn’t talking about you, I used the words “some of y’all,” aka those who leave the board over being called a “turdsniffer” (still love ya NV)

My mistake, you were talking to people who are no longer here? That should’ve been my first conclusion, guess I shouldn’t drink at dawn.

Edit: I talk to myself (and the voices in my head) on a regular basis. Sorry, I should’ve recognized you have a similar struggle, guess I wasn’t fully awake when I made my initial response.

God Damnit!!! I didn't even take 2 full days off and look what you people did. I am not certain but I'm starting to wonder if I'm not like the glue that keeps this place together....

The other thing is next time you bunch of sniveling crybabies are gonna start fighting at least wait until I'm logged in.
That's two No's for CH, sorry you aren't making the live show.

Dan was on fire yesterday and I couldn’t stop laughing at one point. Keep it up Dan . Also I think Mac really hit the nail on the head . From what I heard Cormani was ready to commit to us until he got word from his sisters boyfriend that someone on a website called Gatorchatter called somebody else a turd.

Facilities better, Recruiting improved and positive changes in support staff are all reasons to be hopeful. My concerns are shared by many and it's game management in general along with play calling and defensive schemes that are suspect at best. We have had great recruiting with past coaches (Zook, Musdump) but it didn't play out on the field because of some of the same concerns some of us have expressed. I agree that we don't have to resort to the type of vitriol and personal attacks because of a difference of opinions, so that should stop. Coaches are fair game for criticism, the make a ton of money so it comes with the territory IMO.

Most on this board, based on my observations, follow FB and BB and on a smaller basis baseball and that is pretty much it. Those 3 have pretty much either sucked balls outright or grossly underperformed to put it lightly. We don't have a team to be excited about and that's mostly due to the incompetent hiring practices of the athletic dept who should be baring to brunt of the criticism for the current situation.

Each year we come to the beginning of a new season with renewed excitement and high hopes only to be curb stomped 2-3 games into the season with a demonstration of coaching incompetence and a roster of at least moderate talent underperforming and losing to inferior competition. It's only natural that the reactions by the fan base and members of this forum to be pissed and vocal, even if other are not. Someone(s) need to be held accountable because the state of our mens sports program in inexcusable and if you disagree with my assessment you're a fking idiot! Just kidding

JFC, he was talking to everyone and he was right. Many are taking themselves and the discussions way too seriously. Everyone is guilty of taking themselves too seriously sometimes. It’s human nature. Cover wears big boy pants (when he’s not trying to see if he still fits those sexy coach shorts) and I doubt he was the least bit offended by Jay’s post.

Want my opinion on the topic (probably not), I think this thread is useful because some of the stuff posted yesterday was definitely over the top and offensive even for a 60 y/o crude humor loving shlthead like me. I know at least 1 of the 2 worst offenders got a ban which I think was appropriate.

But the Napier discussions are going to continue because without it there’s nothing to discuss. While we are spilling our guts, I think part of what is ratcheting up the friction is the over-the-top pumperism coming from some. Napier has shown good and bad so far with things to congratulate and to criticize. I’ll say this, calling next year a throwaway season is laughable considering a coach who inherited a similar broken 5-7 program is playing for the championship in 1 week.

I've been saying for some time, as fans, we often are who our haters say we are. Yeah, all fan(atical) bases are..blah, blah, blah...but I find it difficult to be positive when our own fans seem determined to drag everyone they can down to their level. I hear.."take a break if you're that miserable and it's not fun"...unfortunately that also goes for half full fans who get tired of being castigated by perpetually loud and miserable posters. Yeah, I don't take it personally as in my real life, but damn...stfu and give it a rest. Please.

It was a general statement that some take things too seriously, that’s all. Not calling anybody out in particular (well, besides NV I guess )

Bottom line is quit acting like spoiled little entitled pussies and at least try to let this play out. No one wants to read page after page of misery, doom and gloom. If BN doesn’t make it, then we’ll move on to the next.
If something more fundamental to sustained success doesn't get fixed, we're just gonna keep hiring and firing 5-7 to 7-5 coaches. This program's engine has a governor on it. It's time to either take it off and compete in this new world of entitled players, NIL and the transfer portal or drop out of FBS.

Problem #1:

Problem #2:

Until these two problems are permanently corrected, we could hire Saban, Belichick, or put SOS or Urban back in charge and we'll be mediocre. Neither dip**** realizes hiring during any coaching search requires interviewing more than one candidate, especially the loser from Starkville.

Trust me, I would LOVE to be dining on Napier potted meat laced crow at some point soon. Let's just say I'm not expecting to head to the drawer to take out the fork and knife to dine anytime soon.

I know it wasn’t a direct shot at cover or anyone else, but my original point (which I may have failed to express) is that when cover - who is the most sane and football-wise poster on this board - is saying we need to calm down, it’s probably best to carefully consider his advice.

You apparently were making a different point than I originally interpreted. That is the biggest problem with communication. It is rarely clear.

And yet problem 2 was around for both SOS and Urbs success. I get your point, but dont think youre making a good case.

I’m sure my pitiful attempt at sarcasm got lost, sorry.

Too many comments to respond to all of them. I agree with some of your take and disagree with other stuff. CBN makes enough money to handle criticism. However, should I have to hear the broken record? I scroll past most of it, but it still gets old fast. I don’t agree with all the pumping, but when the slightest attempt to point towards optimism is clubbed to death with accusations of “pumping!” the vicious cycle continues between pumpers and dumpers until an adult in the room tells everyone to calm down. Make GC Fun Again!

I know a lot of people who considered 2022 a throw-away season due to the previous year's results and not a lot of change in personnel. Few considered 2023 a throw-away season also. At least until the mass exodus at the end of the 2022 season. Now some of us are indeed kind of looking at next year (2023) as yet another throw-away season for that reason alone. We'll be incredibly young and inexperienced next year at a LOT of positions. Very important positions too. The interesting question is, just what exactly do you, I, or the next idiot on this message board consider a throw-away season? Like is it the ending record? Is it seeing no progress at all throughout the season? We may have differing opinions on that. We may not. Discussing it is fun. Forcing your opinion down everyone else's throats goes well beyond healthy discussion. I think that's where some start to get their feathers ruffled more often than not. It's more fun when we can all agree to disagree and poke fun at one another rather than making threats and blowing everything out of proportion just because someone else doesn't agree with you. I'm pretty sure you, I and most others are in agreement on that point. It's the few that <sigh>, for whatever reason, just can't seem to keep it civil, that spoil the fun for all of us.

#2 had ZERO to do with Meyer being hired, Machen's choice 100%. #2 didn't support Spurrier whatsoever, the Earnest Graham injury being the final straw that sent SOS out the door.

Problem #2 had nothing to do with Spurrier or Meyer being here, but he did have something to do with Spurrier leaving and Meyer hanging around to quit on the job.
