The QBs were awful. Anyone here have any eligibility left? I got plenty of Ox bucks as NIL payment.

As for the o-line, at least 3 starters were out last night. What you saw isn't who will be starting come fall. I think it was excellent experience for a few of those young o-linemen. Second, I really do believe our front 7 is going to be very good next season. I think we will look back and realize there is a good reason the offense got its tail kicked.

Watched the game. Quick impressions:

We are solid at RB. All 4 ran hard and well.

Center was a disaster with high snaps and an inexplicable false start. How does a center have a false start?!?! Kingsley didn’t play but Slaughter was very ifffy.

QBs throw behind the receivers way too much. Missed some easy check downs

WRs looked good.

Defense looked better across the board. Armstrong seems to be a real spark plug. But faced a very vanilla offense.

Smack looked good on the last kick, awful on his first 2.

We need to remember the coaches’ use of this scrimmage is different from our perspective. Everything will be cut up for instruction.

To your point on not wanting to scare anyone away, while I think it’s somewhat in jest, you could definitely make that argument. Probably the best pass I saw all night was a deep pass from Brown that was slightly overthrown. Incompletions are incompletions, but at least where the ball was placed it was our guy or no one. Every other pass I saw beyond 20 yards was so underthrown you’d swear it was one of us here throwing it. Pretty sure that was his last throw of the night. But MB at least looked like a guy who could become solid. Mertz is average, with nerve a chance to improve and be good. Miller should’ve quit football decades ago.
On TV I found the completion stats surprising because Miller seemed far superior to Mertz as to timing of the ball coming out, ball placement, and read option. Not at all good, yet still better than Mertz and not particularly close.

From certain members, yes.

If the offense had kicked ass, you and your ilk would be bitching about how awful the defense is going to be. And vice versa, etc. You can’t “win” a meaningless spring game. Making any projections on the season based on this “game” is absurd and even our slower members know it.

I’ve said I think our offense and our defense will be better next season. I have no idea how many wins that will translate into.
This! Had Mertz lit it up with 3-4 tds they would be crying another yr of terrible defense ect. Some ppl just like to bitch ..

Oh yeah, Sorry to disappoint you guys, even under constant pressure Mertz still threw zero picks and had higher passing averages than AR last season, 62% Comp with over an 8 yards per att average.

Now, get behind and support our starting QB like you all told me to last season.

Miller barely hit 50% of his passes. Was at 44% before his last 2 check downs to uncovered RB put him at 50%

I did expect a better showing from him. We’ll see how it pans out

Defense looked very good, didn’t see much confusion from a young group of mostly new starters.
Banks, Jackson, Searcy and Collins all looked good up front. Scooby and James were all over the field and our secondary is night n day faster.

Boys swarmed. Love it

One thing that fired me up was no more Dean / Torrence at my Safety positions
Indeed. We are young back there but hopefully faster and with better instincts. We may suffer growing pains but you can’t get experience without prepping with film study knowing you’re responsible and playing.
