Hee haw faced uga with a walk-on safety making his first start at QB and Smart’s first year. Then got waxed in year 3, which would’ve continued if he’d stayed. Mullen got smacked twice and took a team with multiple NFL starters on offense and lost because of his friend at DC and not even having the attention to make sure we had the right wrist bands.
What have you seen from Napier to make you believe he won't get waxed by smart in year 3? We're definitely more talented than last year, but we just lost by a wider margin to a worse UGA team.

I won’t disagree that it was spotted horribly and we should’ve just rammed it. But I will also freely admit that I would have been livid if we tried a conventional inside push and didn’t get it against that type of DL. We got aggressive and it backfired. If ETN is able to pass it and there’s a streaking WR down the sidelines for a 14-10 lead, we’re all thrilled. It just didn’t work. But totally agree that it was over right there. We don’t have the horse to hang in this game, especially down a score or two. But that almost validates the call. At this time, we have to go outside the conventional wisdom to compete with them. It sucks, and this isn’t to say Napier is 100% the guy, but the damage was done by people above him and few if any coaches were going to come in and compete with them right away. They’ve won 25 straight for a reason, smoked Ala and Saban in the NCG, would’ve beaten them last year and will beat them again this year unfortunately. It’s reality. They aren’t just rolling us.
I disagree whole heartedly with this. When we start trying to run a bunch of trick plays trying to steal a game it sends a message to the rest of the team that we can't beat them straight up. And at that point in the game we were either winning or very much in it. We have to change our mentality vs at some point

I used to argue this with Douglas all the time, but what was Spurrier’s record against the best overall team we faced each year? By his own admission, he inherited a great team, and still managed to win one time in his first six tries, getting waxed in year 1 and 3 and blowing a 28 point lead in year 5.

He won most of the others tho, in exciting and impressive fashion. So there's that similar... Dammit.

We can’t beat them straight up. If he tries that, it also fails. Meyer added a FB and changed literally our entire offensive approach in 2005 because he knew we couldn’t beat them doing what we’d done. Spurrier rotated QBs in ‘97 and has DW fake an injury in ‘94 to get a deep pass. I’d much rather see him trying something than just failing conventionally.

Spurrier didn't get his doors blown off by Kentucky in year 2.

Luckily for us Napier's year 3 looks very promising.

I think we will be a very good team this year, and have said it several times. All predicated on Mertz coming back, but this will be the most complete team we’ve had since 19-20. I realize our schedule will cost losses, but if we are not a good team next year, then I will have no problem with those that think we need a change.

Remember 07. Not saying this is the exact same scenario, but sometimes softness can just be young talent not ready.
Just for comparison and I am not saying this is the same every week or does it have to do anything with today or next week,, but I looked quickly at the individual stats to see how many defensive players in each class played today. Perhaps some of these were special teams etc but nonetheless. UGA played 7 Frosh, 10 sophs, 5 Jr. and 3 Sr. UF played 8 Frosh, 7 sophs 6 Jr. 0 Sr. I think that is probably similar each week. Few teams have seniors on defense and if they do they are probably not very good. I do not see how UF plays many different type class players than most of their opponents in the SEC.

BTW this may be only players that registered any numbers but I think it is probably a good microcosm. DEZ was listed and the only thing he registered was his fat ass

There's a big difference in making adjustments than trying to steal some trick plays.
