I also remember people saying a graduate transfer QB with experience was not needed and would be a waste of a scholarship despite we had one to give for a year. Not saying any of them would be better, but they sure as hell couldn't be any worse. The man can't even hit a wide open receiver 3 yards in front of him. He either throws it deep or just holds it until he gets to the sideline. On every replay you could see someone come open right in front of him and he is to scared to throw the ball. It's like he is so gun shy to throw short for fear of the pick six like last year at FSU, but the guys this year can actually catch. As for his meltdowns in the redzone the last few weeks that is just unacceptable. Two weeks in a row he's thrown a pick that could have put the game away. It doesn't help that Hardin is one of the biggest busts this program has ever seen. If we had a reliable kicker, like Sturges was, and even just got 3 most of the time the last few weeks it might be a different story. I'm sure that knowing you don't always have to get a TD or nothing would help a little.

If nothing else, the kid threw a strike when we needed it in OT. Obviously the game never should have gotten to that point, but he made the most important play when it counted. And Andre Ware wasn't the only one screaming at the TV for a QB draw multiple times today. They were straight playing 4 guys in the box a TON today and we called the QB draw like twice. I know we're trying not to get the kid hurt, but at some point we need to start calling the plays that the defense is giving us. He would have waltzed into the endzone doing cartwheels if they had called a draw on the 3rd & goal right before Hardin shanked his 2nd FG.

Made me sick how many time this was available and not just the wide open touchdown. Freon could have gashed them over and over and slid down after 10-15 yard gains. Not sure why Nuss didn't see this.

EVERY SINGLE throw he makes is late. He has open receivers on EVERY play. If he rolls out, cancel that down because its over.
The only thing I can figure is that he cannot see. He refused to throw the ball to open receivers in the middle of the field and then took off on his "roll out". He is totally predictable as well, along with the play calling.

The one thing that I can think of is that he simply does not grasp what he is doing. Why did we hit the TE throwback in OT, IT WAS THE ONLY OPTION AS IT WAS A DESIGNED PLAY. Harris only had that option, luckily it was open. I fully believe if you give him plays with multiple options he just can't make it happen between the ears. Heck, he can't even recognize when the zone read is wide open. All we hear is that he is a threat with his legs, but yet he rarely uses them. You can't put him in a position to where he needs to think on the fly, won't happen. I am hoping that this kid can put it together but we all have to realize he has gotten worse since LSU, not better at all. And the team is not responding to him at all. No passion, fire, or energy from him.

Hard to blame playcalling on Nuss. Ineffective QB, limited playcalling. But at least Nuss continues to try and call plays to work. Just have to get a QB that can produce. Grier's ability to throw ball made defenses respect that. Teams know we do not have that now.

Play calling hasn't been very good but Treon is missing receivers all over the field. Plus we have 2 or 3 lineman that should't even be in the SEC.

To me this is Harris' biggest deficiency, leadership. While I didn't have a camera on him the whole game, I was looking for examples of leadership during the game and I didn't observe much. No getting in anyone's face, no pumping anyone up, no directing/correcting, etc. Just emotionless.

And did anyone observe Harris changing the play at the line of scrimmage? Seemed to me he ran the play called regardless of what the defensive showed.

I feel like Treon is trying so hard not to throw an interception that he has paralyzed himself and he is afraid to throw a ball unless the WR has 4 yards separation or it is a long ball. They have to get some confidence in the kid. He is better than this

Would they have put the same pressure on Grier? Probably not. You didn't see that degree of hesitancy.

Treon has not played well for several weeks. You can be critical of his play without "hating" on him. Can we just stop with that? I'm pulling like hell for the kid but I'm not going to suspend reality.

I agree with you Rocket. After his fumble that FAU scored the touchdown on his emotion was just the same as if he had made a first down, nothing. Although we cannot tell what his demeanor is just by viewing, but it does tell alot. I'm really trying hard to support this kid, but he's making it very difficult. He's had more coaching this year than probably his entire UF career and no improvement.

I'm starting to think that Harris is a round peg in McElwain's square hole offense. McElwain wants Harris to be a drop back passer and that just isn't who he is. They need to adjust the offense. I think Harris would do better in a spread type offense with more read option type plays to take advantage of his ability to run the ball. I am getting the feeling that McElwain is not coaching to the players strength right now.

You can't really change the play book 11 weeks into the season. He may try and add some stuff during the bowl preparations. They'll have several weeks then.

More or less I agree with this.
There is one thing that bothers me though. I almost feel like other teams have stolen our signals or something to that effect. It is almost unnatural for opposing LB/DE's to be right in the correct gap every single time we try to run the ball....Think back to the Vandy game then rewatch them, Vandy, USCe and FAU had perfect gap assignment and anything we've picked up has been all KT. Notice also that every time we try to roll Treon to the right there is a perfectly timed blitz which disrupts the timing of the play...Something has tipped off others teams what our offense is about to run IMO.

Besides Treon, it looks to me like, with half-way decent OL blocking, Kelvin
could give us a good running attack to scheme around. ?

All of us knew going into this season that the O would be "iffy" at best. At times it seemed like the O was progressing and we saw a light at the end of the tunnel. But wow, events of the past three weeks have really disappointed me. Since the UGa game, the O appears to be sleep walking, regressing. And when you factor in NO KICKING GAME, it makes one wonder how we even won the past 3 games. As for Treon and the O-line, they seem to be on a slippery slope, sliding slowing into oblivion.

Its numbers crete. 5 guys can't block 8. Ever since we lost grier the box is stacked again. The offensive line isn't great but treon is making them look worse than they actually are.
