Agreed. He's a young coach and he's learning.
What a block by Barry to chase that wide open guy or else that layup my seal the game.
Chiozza's shot is definite play of the game/SC Top 10, but as you guys point out, top play likely doesn't happen w/o Barry's hustle and well-timed block. Plays I and Ia however you cut it.Even better is the fact he didn't just foul him to keep him from scoring. He got in perfect position and timed it up so it was all ball. That block will get lost in the shuffle, but yeah, Cheese's shot never happens without it.
Shot was amazing, but this block was equally awesome!
The block was the game changer. Everyone there saw the long pass and then Barry out of nowhere! Funny that I, and many others who saw the Chioza shot first thought " oh man, 2nd overtime". It's 1am and then I look up,at board and we are up one. I look around and say, I thought the Wisconsin dude made both free throws and then said, wait was that a three?
In real time you see where he lands so you think it's a two. Heard the Mick Hubert call. He too was not sure if two or three.
As I was jumping up and down immediately after the shot went in, I glanced and saw the ref had both hands up to indicate it was a 3, then I REALLY went ballistic. The block was the game changer. Also lost in the mix were some HORRIBLE no calls by the refs in this game. There are 3 that jump to mind:
1. Near end of regulation, Showalter clearly carries the ball in his little "stutter step then launch prayer" three
2. End of regulation long inbounds pass - our Hayes (I think) gets mugged...no call
3. End of OT, their Hayes takes about 6 steps before sinking the go-ahead basket with 4 seconds left. Watching the slo-mo replay I was going ballistic.
There were many others...Napp (I think was his name..pretty boy) traveled every time he touched the ball, but got called once.
I thought it was horrible officiating. I don't mind letting them play in the tourney, but those were just horrible. We overcame the adversity on the court!
Robinson was the one who got fouled on the play at the end of regulation. He got absolutely mugged and they swallowed their whistles. Also lost in the mix were some HORRIBLE no calls by the refs in this game. There are 3 that jump to mind:
