Hard to consider the guy a socialist... considering he made over $1,000,000 a year, lives in a presitgious gated community, and has use of a private jet for his business adventures. If he's a socialist at heart, he's a pretty bad one.
A socialist believes that anybody or anything that earns more money than anyone else, must be punished and have their money redistributed to others. In this case, football is the millionaire and women's sports are the poor. A socialist believes that it is their moral obligation to take from the rich and give to the poor with no concern for the impact on the rich person. This is exactly how Foley approached the athletic programs at UF.
In addition, just like a socialist, this policy does not apply to their personal wealth (or Foley's salary in this case) since their money is special and they deserve theirs.
The more I think about this the more I realize that the comparison is spot on.
