Has there ever been a QB start in major division 1 college football that didn't start in HS? Now i'm not going to call him trash like donkey does because it's not the kids fault butters recruited him and offered him a scholarship. By all accounts he's a good kid and is trying to compete at the highest level and doesn't deserve that. Personally i hope the kid turns out to be awesome that would be a killer story...but highly unlikely

There’s no reason to beat up on the kid but Donkey is right about his prospects. The thought was he might have a chance in a pro style offense. However right or wrong that was, he’s not going to beat out Jones or Franks in Mullen’s offense. Toney would have a MUCH better shot at that.

You are probably right but Franks better step it up if he wants to keep the job.

Great post!
I’m not a fan of people calling players things like “trash”. The kid gets up every day and competes to the best of his ability. He may or may not be as gifted or talented as others on the team however he represents gator nation with the dignity it deserves.

Just remember, the guy calling him “trash” likely looks something like this:

Brady started, but had to share snaps with another QB. Forgot his name but he was a hot MLB prospect, too.

Drew Henson? (I think that’s the guy.) Brad Johnson started some too until he eventually lost out to Casey Weldon. But neither went into the draft as starters.

Harmon Wages?
Think he later played for the Falcons for a while but not as a QB.
Nope. I am having a brain freeze. Strong arm. His given name could also be for a woman. Better nfl career than Steve. I know Harmon Wages stories, though. Maybe played for Buffalo.

A quick Google search identifies Kay Stephensen and Jackie Eckdahl as Spurrier's other backups.

Drew Henson. Terribly overrated player. As a Cowboys fan I got to see that first hand when Jerry brought him in.

Thanks. Trask got some reps with the first team and is Franks only competition. OL still isn't worth a picayune. Good to know.
