I really don't care if he's a low 3*. I would not care if he was a high 5*. All I know is what I see. He was all County in a very competitive Broward County division. His team is in the playoffs against Columbus. If you have a chance watch the game.

I admit that I was skeptical, but he definitely shows some impressive athleticism on tape. The question for him will be the same as every other HS lineman, can he keep his athleticism while adding 20+ pounds for the move inside.

BMF you're the best when comes to recruiting, but you have to know that it is late in the cycle. That's why it so worrisome he is pursuing a kid like this.

Dorlus has said he's probably going to sign in Feb, so in his case it's still early in the process. I'm fine w/ lining up a Plan B, but if they accept his verbal this weekend on his OV then I think it's premature. Unless the staff knows we're missing on every other SDE/DT we have lined up it's a Butters move. I've been very positive throughout this mediocre recruiting class, but for those who think this class is going to jump from 23rd into the top 15 by accepting commits from the 942nd rank recruit...well, you're in for a let down. Insti pulled a classic "trust the coaches" post on the previous page, which was sooooo Butters. "Butters, Randy and company are so much better at evaluating kids than all the other coaching staffs, so trust him on this....McWilliams will be All-SEC...." (or Ancrum, or Stiner, or Jackson, etc). Funny thing is if Dorlus waits to sign his stock will start to soar (as schools will look to fill their classes with the available talent).

I have no problem with taking 3*s if they are the right ones. OL and DT with good offer sheets is a start. Sometimes you get a Michael Taylor who didn’t have prototypical size but could play. You have guys who are too busy playing every sport to camp.

There are reasons to take 3*s. I mean look how much Hopper jumped in the rankings, who’s to say Dorlus isn’t about to do the same.

There was a story written a while back about a game featuring Cowart and Kionnovis Davis and Davis outgraded Cowart, who was the #1 player.

All that aside, BMF is right. If you take a 3* right now, you better be damn sure

If he was a kicker or punter, sure let's go get him. And again, he may end up being an All-SEC player but chances are he'll end up being another Ancrum.

I have no love lost for McElwain. But I do trust Sal Sunseri, Grantham and Dan. They like him and I like him. They also like some higher rated guys like Fuller and Hunter and Pickering.

We have slots for Dorlus, and Hunter and Fuller which are the most likely to sign with us. Some others are Jaren Handy & Charles Moore. I really like both Charles Moore and Pickering who are both committed to Miss State.

I like them too, that’s why I want to know why two new guys who aren’t nearly as big or as highly rated appeared. Does it mean we don’t have a shot at flipping Pickering or are the new SDE guys insurance in case we don’t hit? Jaelin Humphries is a good DT commit but we could use another. There’s room in the class and we’re losing guys to the pros and graduation.

Tbh, we really didn’t stop the run this year.

There needs to be a real sense of urgency on getting the defense sorted out.

We’re looking at a situation where a good offense is gonna get hamstrung by a weak defense, an inversion of the past decade that will come with its own brand of frustration if dan and the guys don’t get it sorted on the DL and defensive backfield.

I agree with you on everything except I think you're being a lit harsh on Dorlus. He's committed to Vatech and Oregon had a crystal ball for him too. Ancrum was committed to FIU when he snagged him. Again, I get what you're saying and I hope we can still get Fuller and Hunter to go along with Dorlus.
