I just want to make sure I’m clear here. So Power 5 Usce has a multimillion head man, whose only head coaching experience is taking a once proud, Top5 job and driving it straight into the ground. Fellow Power 5 fsu has a multimillion head coach with a career losing record, who thought it wise to implement a turnover backpack mid season en route to a 5-7 finish. And CMU was chomping at the bit to land a guy who has sex with sharks and accused his last school of threatening to kill him.

But the general concenus is that Bell isn’t quite ready for an FCS level job?

Am I hearing this right?

Not from me.

When Frontbutt tapped his red slippers three times, Will Dawgpile interviewed Kerwin and then decided to promote Brian White to OC. KB was not interested in being a position (qb) coach. Since then during both coaching searches, numerous posters, (Rog being the most vocal as I recall) suggested Kerwin should at least get a look, however the concensus among posters here was that he needed to strike out and gain more experience. It should be in the archives.

Only watched a bit.
You afford no credit to an undefeated season...beating an undefeated team in the Championship game.
It is very difficult to win at any level. So many things out of one’s control.

Your statement is silly. I doubt you’ve laced up cleats, strapped on a helmet, and given everything—fighting through pain and exhaustion—alongside teammates willing to sacrifice their bodies for the ultimate goal of a TEAM victory, week after week.
Fighting through adversity, whether it be injuries, turnovers, poor officiating, penalties, bad decisions or other mistakes on the field. Never relenting, pushing through all obstacles to feel the elation—the ultimate joy—of final victory and pure satisfaction and confirmation that it was all worth it. Every. Single. Second.

But, hey, that’s only my opinion

I have done none of that, but I have watched coaches when their teams win by large margins be disappointed in the process that their team used. And my comment was just about the game that I saw, perhaps those other wins did not have so many mental mistakes. There were several false starts, and other issues that I bet their coach wants to correct for the future. The game if played better would not have come down to a missed two point conversion to deliver the win. And yes it is just my opinion, but say Nick Saban would totally agree, and he is one of the best coaches ever.

I did not watch the game, but Chief you have been around here long enough to know that most Gator fans don't give a rat's AZZ about mental awareness/blunders, penalties, process, game management skills, fundamentals, etc.

But it was the last game so the end result is all that matters. but if those mistakes occurred on a consistent basis during the regular season against a rugged SEC schedule, undefeated would not be a reality and a winning record might be a toss up. But congrats to the Throwin Mayoan!

Sure they don't, but all those things result in wins or if you do too many of them losses. And congrats to the team, the conditions that they have to play in are much tougher than say Gators, but the competition made some blunders as well which is why victory was possible.

So a division II school without the resources to hire good assistants and without the clout to get first line players is supposed to play a mistake free game, like Saban who has 55 unpaid assistants and qc people. And by the way Bamma doesn't play mistake free either.

I am amazed that people like Nord and Nuss can find their way onto P5 coaching staffs and someone like Kerwin Bell has not. Whoever hires Kerwin will benefit from his great offensive mind and impeccable credentials as a former player. I just hope that he does not end up in the SEC coaching against us.

Quite a few good FCS programs have HC openings now, including Sas's alma mater I believe. It will be interesting to see if Bell gets a shot to move up now.

I was another fan of hiring Bell from JU. But I believe we have the best option on the table already on campus in Dan.
However, and to his detriment, it appears Bell is against taking any job at any level that isn't as a head coach so his rise to a P5 school, if desired, will solely be from any success he has at VSU.

I was talking with neighbors last night at a party and one said there must be some dirt on KB as the reason he hasn’t been offered bigger jobs; I said if memory serves me KB was terminated at JU for financial aid improprieties.
Maybe that’s why? Does anyone else remember this?

Couldn't agree on a budget for the team. That's my memory. Kerwin as a big time head coach has one big disadvantage. He mangles English. He's far worse than the usual suspects we are all familiar with. Doesn't help with higher profile teams.

I don’t disagree but I enjoyed listening to him being interviewed. Big smiles. You can take the boy out of the country...

Mangled English? Ever hear Bear Bryant talk? My late uncle lived in Pensacola in the Bear era and said the Bear Bryant show would come on Sunday afternoons. He said it was nothing but Bryant mumbling and drinking a bottled Coca-Cola for 30 minutes.....

Not mistake free, blunder free, and if you are OK with such they never will improve.

I get it they play with far less resources, but I bet their coach was not that happy about those massive blunders. If I can find his email I might ask him.

You nailed it. They couldn't agree on a budget and didn't want to pay his salary or his coaches...wanted to downsize. Also, none of the coaches were charged.
