The Florida Gators signed one receiver and one athlete who projects to play receiver in college but the Gators are still looking to add more playmakers in February.
Receiver Arjei Henderson (6-1, 183, Richmond, TX. Fort Bend Travis) is one guy that the Gator are targeting and he has liked Florida for a long time.
“I’ll probably be visiting Florida in January,” Henderson said on visiting Florida on why he wants to visit. “I’ve never actually been to the campus before but I hear a lot about them, I grew up watching them and I’m a big fan of them. I definitely look to get all the things you imagine and see on TV during the trip.”
Henderson decomitted from Oklahoma in December and he says several Florida coaches including Dan Mullen have been recruiting him since that time.
“All of them, Coach Mullen, Coach Billy [Gonzales] and Coach O [Otis Yelverton],” he said on the coaches recruiting him from Florida. “They all do a strong job of communicating with me and giving me their pitch.”
Mullen and the rest of the Gators coaching staff have a simple message to Henderson about why he would be a good fit in Gainesville.
“They preach the young talent they have around there,” Henderson said of Florida’s message to him. “They have hard working guys that come to work everyday and they say they need some more of those guys around there.”
Receivers coach Billy Gonzales has also explained to Henderson why the Gators need him on offense in Florida.
“They only signed one true receiver this year,” he said on if he sees playing time at Florida. “That definitely opened my eyes, there are some spots open over there and definitely a place I could further my career.”
Wow seriously? I’m almost identical in size to Hopper. I’m just a hair taller... Not terribly excited about those measurables...Trying to keep up w/ what the hell is going on in Gator world while in Florida visiting family.
One thing I didn't see posted/reported is the updates from the all-star game. Something I found interesting.....and a bit disappointing is Diabate's size. He's been listed at 6'4 220 (ish). He measured at the camp this week at: 6'2 1/4" 208.4lbs. I was hoping for a 6'4 220+ who was ready to come into the S&C program and grow into a solid WDE/Edge. He's more ready to play strong safety.
Hopper is a little disappointing as well, measuring at: 6'1 5/8" 197.4lbs.
