Perine is the better all around. I could see him being a steal for someone. Scarlett also impressed me in the back half of the season as it seemed like his vision improved tremendously and he began to run stronger breaking tackles that he didn’t the first few years.

Perine is the more natural running back, but I could see Scarlett getting picked up as 3rd down, H-back or even a FB hybrid some teams are running with now on the 3rd day of the draft.

Great for the WR group, but I’m curious why he didn’t play in the bowl?

Just a guess on my part:

Was Cleveland leaving even a consideration by anyone? Not sure how a guy who barely gets on the field in college expects to even get a sniff in the NFL. I wish him well next year but he better make huge strides if he wants a shot at the league.
He doesn't have the best hands, but he actually hits and blocks well, especially on ST. I'd like to see him get a shot at safety.

Yep great news! And yet its ANOTHER Gator that believes in Mullen or as some of the haters like to say "Eddie". Lol Eddie really has it workin no doubt and STUFFED the haters while laughing in their faces with his Eddie xmas sweater on CLASSIC and LOVE IT

Or he was told that he'd be a 7th rounder or undrafted. Makes it easy to come back. Glad to see him return.

Coming out this year would be stupid. The draft is absolutely loaded at RB. Him and Scarlett are likely to be 5-7th round picks.
The issue is that RBs tend to have short shelve lives in the NFL, so these guys often leave early and get the money while they can. I don't think these either would raise their draft stock considerably enough to make up for the year of missed earnings. I disagree on Perine though. With good showings at the combine and pro day, he could elevate himself into the 3rd round range.

Seems like the consensus is that both Perine and Scarlett would not really improve their draft stock enough to warrant returning for another year. I agree with that. Not only are they not top flight RB's, the RB position in the NFL is not a highly valued position (see Bell, Leveon). That is not to say that there are not a lot of good RB's in the NFL (there are), but they can be found almost anywhere either late in the draft or in the FA market? Quick who holds the record for most rushing yards in a Super Bowl? yes Timmy Smith, most never heard of him. With all that, I think Perine is the better all around back and he did improve in his time here. From having no wiggle or vision his freshman year, to actually being able to find the opening and make some guys miss, I think he has a chance. Scarlett reminds me of about 100 other college RB's. maybe he finds a spot , maybe he does not. But if they both do not return I do not think it weakens the position at all next year. RB's are easy to find and we have 2 serviceable ones already that are returning.

If Perine was going to go in the first 3 rounds, it probably isn't a tough decision.
For that reason, I think he comes back, is the work horse next season and improves his stock.
