The problem with your analysis is we don't know what other teams think. We know what fans including fans who work for school specific websites think.

I have never seen any thought that Richards would pick UF other than UF sites and he took an official visit to UF.. The as someone said above Mullen made a big splash. So I see no reason to be either extremely pessimistic or optimistic.

Yep our pay sites had people thinking it was possible we get all 4 just a couple of days ago. I would say the other fan sites had us only the favorite for Elam.

The noise (whIch may be straight BS) would have me think we are down to Elam, Bogle and a longshot on Fuller now.

I guess I see the class a little differently. I have only expected slow, incremental improvement under CDM and was surprised at how big the on field increment was. Thus, if we only sign Black and Arjel, I will still think that this is a good class with fewer reaches. Of course, Hevesy will have to find an O-line from that large bunch, one of the Jones needs to become a proficient QB, and the D-line needs patching. But, that said, this looks like a strong class that will allow a good coaching staff to continue to improve the on field product.

Just curious, when you say the "main competitors" are you talking about actual insiders or coaches, or just a bunch of dickwads like us on a message board?

Message board people like us mostly. There are always big surprises but that many times will tell you if you have a good chance imo. I think these kids have a hard time keeping things under wraps.

Moore is pretty much gone apparently and now Auburn is even more convinced they are getting Richards and don't seem to be worried about us at all. Just a little about Miami and Georgia.

Georgia now actually thinks they are the slight favorites over us to get Elam reading some of their stuff. Unless its bagmen related I think they are off the mark with that myself.

Kyle Jackson is right up there with Bobby Sabelhaus among the biggest disappointments in Gator recruiting -- at least we never had to play Bobby. Tim Olmstead in that grouping as well. Ronald Powell, too, though that was health related.

I hope so too. Great recruiting skills may be the most important aspect any new hire can bring to the staff. DM can coach, we know that. But 3 star talent will not beat 4&5 star talent on a regular basis. IMO, the best case scenario is achieving talent parity with the 1st tier programs by 2021. A good finish to the current class may not be absolutely essential, but it sure as hell wouldn't hurt. I'm reasonably optimistic though, a small case of the jitters not withstanding.

My view is if we get only one (most likely Elam) Mullen had a good recovery at least from what looked like might be a disaster for a while but I wouldn't be that happy about the class. The old D line coach was one of the weak links as a recruiter apparently. I do think we get a top 5 class in 2020 with FSU and Miami having their issues.
