Trash doesnt have any actual GOOD games to offset his poor performances.

Because he isn't given a chance to get in a game. Coaches are holding him back.

Can't believe I was able to type the whole thing without laughing.

I appreciate the @ltraz play by play breakdown, but it is completely unnecessary in this instance. If these are three takes you have from the O&B game regarding Trask, we now know your game analysis is irrelevant during the season and not to bother rechecking the tape for your take. This is nonsense. He looked like s4it. From the first pass to his completions off his back foot while wearing a noncontact Jersey, to poorly missed passes and bad sacks because he can’t move. Our transfer portal qb looked better without throwing a pass.

Other than loving everything in orange and blue, I don’t know how you watch us try to help the QBs through the defensive play calls, Trask nevertheless look so trashy, and, yet, you still think he looked good enough to defend for 3 plus pages.

In other news, Ray Goff would have been the next Dooley if only he hadn’t coached during the Spurrier era. Too far????
Not once have I attempted, or offered, in depth analysis. I've merely provided my opinion as that's fairly common on a forums board.

I too appreciated ltraz' thoroughness in his breakdown.

As for checking back with me through the year, I hope you don't really need my opinion, or anybody else for that matter, to understand and appreciate Florida football. So, um, don't do that.

And it's 3, or 4, pages because we have a milestone to attain before December.

Auggie, brother, let this one go.

In college football, unless you're surrounded by 5-star talent like Alabama's, the QB position is by far the most important position on the field. And you're suggesting that losing Franks is not that big of a deal - and here's the thing w/ Franks, he's improved greatly, but still has a ways to go....and he's significantly ahead of the other QBs.

There's nothing to let go. I simply don't share in the doom and gloom purported on here that UF is (loosely) screwed simply because this one Freshman QB decides to transfer.

I offered a list of our QBs and opined that I believe we're in a good place. The level of "good" is debatable but I believe we can win w/what we have, even behind Franks. Many on here disagree. That's fine. I'm good either way.

But I do agree with you completely that this needs to be let go.

So, Jesus take the wheel. I'm letting go! :bananawave:

I dont know why this has to be an either/or thing. It doesnt, because it isn't.

We can all be appreciative of the fact that from day 1 Trask has been a role model student/athlete on and off (well mostly off ) the field. We can all be appreciative that regardless of his level of game day contributions, he represents the university as well as one could.

We can all do this, while simultaneously being grateful he isnt 1st or even 2nd string in the depth rotation at QB because hes just not SEC and certainly not Florida QB material. He just isn't. I dont know why both sides have to go to such ridiculous lengths on this topic - the defenders turn into full blown delusional cheerleaders while the doubters turn into hate filled name callers. The truth is he's a good kid and a great gator, but he's not SEC QB material. It's not an either/or.

Agreed.

Who thinks we are screwed? The two QB per class people are silly. At best you are going to he able to keep two decent QBs onnthe roster and maybe on slightly functional walkon.

Even before the transfer portal, QBs leave. See Kresser, Berlin etc.

No, he isn't slightly worse than Franks. He migiht be slightly worse than Franks playing against air (or that poor walkon QB that everyone picked on).

He is significantly worse than Franks with a pass rush because he is a statue in the pocket, cant run the option half of the playbook, cant run the QB draws and of course, isn't ever actually available because he gets hurt while standing on the sideline in a no contact jersey.

Trash next job will be bagging groceries. Franks will be in the NFL if only because he is big fast and has a rocket arm.
I kinda feel sorry for Trask. He clearly had no business getting a scholly to UF (or probably any other SEC school), but I have never heard a bad thing about the guy as a teammate or a person. I, too hope he is never needed to play a meaningful snap, but I am glad he gets to play during blowouts (though this year we will need to get EJ those snaps). Assuming he has anything on the ball, he'll probably leave a Gainesville with a Bachelor's and a Master's Degree. While his future is not going to be playing football, I suspect with those degrees from a school like UF, his future is pretty bright.

Agree with everything ... except, isn't he 2nd string coming out of Spring?

What I don't understand is all the trashing of Trask for having gone 11/16 for 209 and praise for EJ for going 6/13 behind the same offensive line and facing the same defense. If Trask is not SEC or UF material what does that make EJ?

BTW, UW QB Jacob Sirmon, who had put his name in the transfer portal has now withdrawn it.

Trask or no Trask …I think Trask is more than serviceable

BUT this leaves us with 3 QBs and only 1 coming in 2020...All talk is saying we are only recruiting 1 QB

It behooves Mullen and staff to start kicking the bushes for a Dual Treat: JUCO, Graduate, or Eligible Transfer in the Portal.

On a positive note, this should make UF more attractive to a 2021 QB…IMHO

Oh just an FYI, Clemson RB Tavien Feaster, has put his name in the portal. Now the last position we need to shore up is RB but I thought it was interesting.

This. Trask is not an SEC caliber QB but he is a good kid who gives us his all. I think he is a good passer and is fairly accurate but I don't see him as a starter ever. I hope he scores some TDs in the 4th qtr of several games.

Huh? I'm seeing that we already offered AR, have his verbal, and have been up front with him that we'll be recruiting a second quarterback for 2020. :dunno:

You may be correct...If not before...I would suspect this is true now.

But that still leaves you with FF...IF he stays another year...and if not? You have 2 QBs with playing time (One of those very little) and 2 TF

I think the coaches knew about JJ's Title IX problems early on this spring so they reached out to Beck.
