Btw, Oregon is about a third the distance that Gville is. Yes, both require a long drive or flight. But there’s a reason West coasters travel to Hawaii a lot more than east coasters, and those of us on this coast frequent the Caribbean more. Rationalizing that the two are equal is nonsense.

I easily moved 1100 miles for college, on the same coast. Years later, I moved out west with my wife as a test run to potentially moving. It became clear that the longer distance, and really time zones, were too big to justify the nicer west coast weather. The flights were an easy 2.5 hours versus 6, with likely connections and higher cost. Then, even trying to reach anyone by phone when the day was over was not the easiest due to the time zones. I didn’t thank that would be too impactful, but it really was. Bicoastal is worse than just the total distance.
