Trump is a business man, he's looking for the return on an investment. There is no gain for him, personally or politically (or for the country in that matter) by paying the players more than their sport earns. I'm not sure what exactly you are after by suggesting this, but in looking at Trump's position, there is no reason to do what you suggest.

Again, what is your intent? Improve the sport? Encourage more and better players? Paying them more may get more applicants and kids pursuing it, but it won't make them any better. And, frankly, I doubt you'll find anyone playing on a National Team for income - they pursued a sport they love and have managed to take it as far as they can.

Perhaps, if the intent is to 'improve the sport' the President could encourage/divert funding towards building a better program nationally. Invest in the SPORTS, so they become more popular, more available, with better facilities, hiring better coaching, etc. Improve the sport, and then the players can improve more and provide a better NT product. But paying the players more? You're rewarding whinging that is misplaced on the part of the players.
Funding would work best. That should be doable.

So now the protest is back to being about racism?

She was quoted a few weeks ago, when pressed about possibly hating her country, she said that her protest was NOT directed at the country or the flag, it was directed at the current administration and their ongoing erosion of her freedoms. This is the reason why I asked for a list of lost freedoms.
The first sign that your actions are bogus is when you must change the motivations and intent each time someone dispells your position.
So far this is the list I have from her:
- Racism and police brutality
- Trump and his stealing her freedoms
- Sexism and equal pay
The real reason is that she is a whiney bi##h that has been taught to complain and criticize to win points with her friends and political peers.

Did ma girls make everyone proud today with their parade at the canyon of heroes in New York City?

And why didn't they get that very same parade in 2015 when they won the world cup? Hmmmm. What was different about this year's team? ;)

Disrespect the flag/anthem and I don't bother to care what you're protesting about. I know everything I need to know about you at that point.

Only because Megan the mouth Rapinoe brought Trump into the situation and then he responded and they went back and forth. Reality says it's not the president's decision to increase the pay for the ladies soccer team it's up to the United States soccer Federation. The women's soccer on a high level is so young what is one of the reasons why the competition is not so good around the world. the sport needs to continue to expand around the world and then bigger sponsors will get involved and that will the women get more money.

I feel the same way but I really like a lot of the players on the team so it was impossible for me not to root for them as a whole. the women had a great moment when you get a second straight World Cup but now reality is going to set in going to go go back play for there teams without the adulation they've had for the past month. That will be very hard.

I like winning and winners but not at the cost of Disrespecting My Country and the symbols that represent it.

It's not the whole team that's misusing the platform but the News Media makes it seem that way.

Team captain Megan Rapinoe, who calls herself a “walking protest” against the Trump administration, accused President Trump of “excluding people” in a Tuesday interview on CNN.

“Your message is excluding people. You’re excluding me. You’re excluding people that look like me. You’re excluding people of color,” Rapinoe said in a message to the president.

Recent article (10JUL) but old topic. Single instance on record, so is it sour grapes and she really doesn't warrant a place on the team; is it a matter of team chemistry that wouldn't work with her strong beliefs vs that of others? Many unanswered questions, and to me it still looks like a media created issue as opposed to a systemic one within soccer.

Intolerance is definitely an OLD TOPIC.

Did the media create the issue of her being excluded because of her religious beliefs?

MR is all against "excluding" people unless they don't fit her preference.

The quotes from the same people who called her "homophobic" also said "there isn’t a better pure tactical fit available than Hinkle.”

#SelectiveOutrage #DoubleStandards

So team chemistry only matters when you are excluding a talented player who is NOT gay? If the situation were reversed, there would be outrage, but because the person not included is not gay, then it's no big deal.

Nothing to see here. Move on.

Yeah, because ALex Morgan is GAY? DO you even know what you are talking about?

Hinkle is homophobic...bigotry hidden behind "religion". She can watch on TV and PRAY about it. LOL.

"In 2017, Hinkle turned down a call-up from the national team for a pair of international friendlies after learning that the players would wear rainbow-themed jerseys in honor of Gay Pride Month. She said later that the uniform conflicted with her Christian faith.

“I just felt so convicted in my spirit that it wasn’t my job to wear this jersey,” she told “The 700 Club” in a May 2018 interview. “I gave myself three days to just seek and pray and determine what [God] was asking me to do in this situation.”

Hate hidden behind the guise of religion. The religious right is pushing and pushing. They'll push their agenda too far at some point and the back lash will be huge.

For anyone to have a logical conversation (I don't expect to be able to with you) about this (and other) issues, we need to define some things. Since you refuse to engage in civil debate and discussion in the appropriate forum, I'll attempt to engage here.

Exactly what does "Hate" mean in the context of these accusations?

Is it "hate" for a person to refuse to wear an article of clothing that promotes a political agenda that they have a personal opinion against?

Why does a specific sexual orientation have to be celebrated on sports uniforms anyway?

Hinkle was excluded not because she was verbally abusing people because of their orientation in the clubhouse, but because she didn't want to promote a political cause she disagreed with.

If you can provide any evidence that Hinkle engaged in BEHAVIOR that was discriminatory and degrading, I'll disengage my defense of her.

Not everyone who claims to be a Christian is associated with or behaves like the idiotic heathens from Westboro Baptist Church.

Right off of her Wiki page...

Hinkle has been outspoken regarding LGBT issues. On June 26, 2015, after same-sex marriage in the United States was established in all 50 states, Hinkle tweeted "This world is falling farther and farther away from God... All that can be done by believers is to continue to pray."

Not sure how you can build team trust with that but you try to explain it to me.

There is nothing hateful about Hinkle's stance. Nothing. It isn't her job as a soccer player to support gay pride.
