The only way to begin is with "What a game!" And if there's not a compelling reason for one of our oldest and strongest rivals to be returned to the schedule on a yearly basis, then I don't know anything. We were treated to a couple of heavy weights (and it's been a while since I could classify us as such) going at it toe-to-toe until the final bell. It's beginning to feel that we are returning to the conference A-list once more. And it feels good.

:chomp:

C2 - agree with most of your post. Hard not to cheer for Trask. The ESPN segment was great. That said...his internal pocket clock is non-existent. Three more fumbles. At least 2 of those were on him. I love that he can sling but that has to get cleaned up ASAP.

What a great win. Hats off to Mullen and the kids. Awesome!

I bet he regrets his decision to stay. He would be featured nationally each week and many would see him as savior of sorts - he’d be the most competent OL we had.
It wasnt his decision. He needed one course to graduate. Rumors are that MSU cancelled it in the spring and rescheduled to fall and wouldnt give him a waiver to use another elective.

Good read, C2. You are about the only one here who can put that many words in a post and I will read it all. Others ... TLDR.

A lot of talk about Auburn's DL, rightfully so, but their secondary had a great game. I don't really blame Trask too much for those fumbles ... he knows he has to get the ball out quick and he has that ball up high ready to unload it. He knows they are coming for him but he stands in and keeps looking. His pocket presence is fine ... our OL just can't hold a good DL back and AU's secondary played great. They were physical ... but thats part of the game. Our secondary was pretty physical at times as well.

Davis should be starting. Period.

It was targeting. Period.

Fake punt? Who cares. Townsend has that moxy that a lot of punters don't. Love that coach is owning it so Townsend can clear his mind and be ready for the next one.

LSU is going to be tough. Coach O has it rolling. Just think ... he was on the hot seat a few years ago. I think there is a lesson there that we should learn ... time and consistency is more important than many believe. Clemson is also a good place to look for that lesson. Patience. I think Mullen is worth the wait until he can get the recruiting momentum swung back in our direction because he seems to be creating a culture here that players are ready to work their butts off for. This season, thus far, is showing it.

OL still isn't a position where stars matter that much. Having those big eaters in a strength program for four years and playing a group of mostly upper classman is all we need to develop.

Hev is still one of the best in the business. Even at Cowbell, his lines were solid.
Wow, you make a lot of really dumb comments but, this one might be your dumbest. Stars matter everywhere on the team. Do you think Bama and Georgia have good OL play by having upper class-men or the best recruits and great OL coaches? Does our current OL play look any better than it did under Summers or Davis? from my perspective, no...

Nailed it, Cover. And BTW Coach O took a deep gulp after watching UF. Electric Crowd and glad we were able to make the trip. I hope that Mullen is able to deeply instill that mentality. You've won a big one, now go get the next one.

Until next week. Geaux Gators!

I was with you til you went all "Dabo". Massive amounts of money fixed Dabo, not "consistency".

For the one single Dabo in history, there are ten thousand Richts or whatever that tool in Iowa's name is who have sucked for decades despite "consistency".

Thanks for the writeup. I wasn’t sure Townsend had a good game, based on the touchbacks and the bonehead fake. If that was his call, it wasn’t a good day for Townsend.
The touchbacks seemed to be the cover men's fault--it looked like they had no idea where the ball was and on one got faked out by the Auburn returner.

Can't say enough positive things about the Gator crowd and all the hell we raised when Auburn had the ball.To me thats what tipped the scale in favor of U.F. , the teams were pretty equal otherwise.

Put me in neteng's club = Mullen is a keeper. Let's enumerate his Gator pluses :

1) Watch how "in the clouds" he walked after this Auburn victory by his Gators.
2) He must be infusing all gator players with individual self-confidence, with team faith, and with a bit of "ain't we got fun". With time this will grow.
3) Mullen exudes Swamp spirit. With time this will march on, and crowd support build & build.
4) Sure looks like this is Mullen's dream-job --- so he'll be here doing his best as long as we want him - that's a big value.
5) His press conference demeanor, openness and joviality are a credit to UF and thus gotta be a good seed planted into the thinking of recruits and recruits parents - meaning he could give UF broad attraction to recruits O & D. Takes time.
6) Mullen ain't grouchy.
7) I see Mullen never losing these kids' faith.
8) Mullen is a solid and constant source of enthusiasm for our Gators.

I think you might not understand that OL typically aren't ranked as high as other positions. At least that is where I think Donk is coming from.

Are you crazy? $$$ fixes a lot of things ... but having someone install a program that continues to stay on top is also a huge part of their success. Point I was making, I think we have half of the equation fixed. Now we need $$$ to help him, as well as some patience and time.

That failure to pitch to Davis play brought me out of my seat. If Trask laterals the Gators may have had two long TD runs yesterday.
From my vantage point in the south end zone, Davis looked to be all alone. Not sure he would have scored, but he would have easily gotten a very big gain.

Count me as another that looks forward to your write up Cover. Your threads also help me distribute Likes as i read the replies and go down the page Liking post after post as it brings out the best of everyone...

Fantastic win with a FANtastic atmosphere ! That many turnovers against an unbeaten Top 10 win and still beat them by double digits, shows the guys believe in themselves and plan that the coaches have for them. Defense won the game, stopping them that many times on 3rd down, shutting down their rush game, Grantham had an excellent game plan and the players executed spot on.

After Trask beats LSU, then jawja, he should be in the talks for Heisman, which is MVP, stats are secondary, and he is showing MVP character.

Go Gators

Then how to the Bama's and Georgia's load up with 5-Star OL? I think Bama has 5-Stars two deep?

Another excellent summary C2. As said many times on this site it was an "instant classic" game at the Swamp. One of the loudest games I ever attended and fans were fully engaged from the opening whistle. Good comment about Patrick Nix and his game in 94. Was at that one as well and to me was the worst big game loss I saw at BHG. My son told me after Saturday's game that we have finally released the Nix curse from The Swamp.
Didn't see the telecast yet and would be interested to see how many Papa Nix fan shots they had. Have to assume he was there.
