No doubt, it would be a long shot to get to the SECCG if we lose to the ball-lickers, but as they say, past performance is no guarantee of future results, so however we got to the SECCG, I'd take it. So with subjectivity removed, from a purely mathematical viewpoint, this game is important to maximize our chances to get to the SECCG.
Right? So many scenarios out there for the remainder of the season. Ugay still having us then to end the season to go to AU and A&M in back to back weeks is no simple task either. I mean I’ve said this before. It really gives me the ‘06 type of feel to the season. Absolutely no one gave us a shot that year. No one. Even if we drop one somewhere and stay focused it’s still right in front of us.

Yeah, lets just dream of all the possible ways we could just slime our way into the SECCG.

Hey, not saying I’d love for it to happen that way. Just saying I’d love the opportunity however it should come to be there in the end. Sometimes championships are won with a little bit of luck and a lot of times there are more than a few deserving teams and it’s decided by factors outside of one teams control.

So you'd decline the invite if we backed into it?
Of course not, but it is way to early to start imagining scenarios where we back in. Good grief, some of you guys are hoping we beat LSU just so that if we happen to slip up against SCAR or MIZZOU we still might have a shot. Geez! The whole enchilada is still on the table and we have people openly talking about boxing out for scraps.

Good point. Part of my comment was meant to stress that fact. There are too many scenarios still to even discuss what could be.

EDIT: SCENARIO 1. Just win baby.

That's my position entirely. But it's mostly because I don't care for enchiladas.

It's actually more than "sometimes". Outside of the two won by the ACC, Alabama '09 and Aub 2010, every NC winner since 2005 has had a blemish. That's 4 out of 13. Not to mention the total back-ins by Alabama in both '11 and '17.

But to Zambo's point, there's no reason to think in terms of how do we get in. I unintentionally opened this can of worms with my lsu game comment, so blame me. But in any event, we're winning and playing probably the best football in a decade. Let's just win every game.

"We don't like each other.." mentioned in both videos. We better come to play and keep calm.

This matchup strangely still doesn't really feel like a rivalry game to me. Always an important game, but for some reason just doesn't have that feel like playing Dwags, SOW, scUM or even Auburn. I think it proves you can't artificially make a rivalry game by making it an annual contest. This is what argues to me for getting rid of the set cross divisional foes, going to 9 conference games and rotating everyone in the other division.

Going to 9 games adds an additional meaningful game every year and one less crappy game, which would be the best part of it. And you play everyone approximately every other year as opposed to once every 8 years as can happen now. Someone posted a list of teams we've played more than some of the SEC West teams over the last 15 years or something and it was a pretty long list.

The games that are true rivalry games will still be rivalry games even though they aren't played every year. In fact it could probably make them bigger since you have to wait a little longer to see them again, so it makes beating them that much more important.

Just get rid of divisions. Each team should have a couple rivals they play every year and all of the other 11 teams should rotate through the schedule. With 8 conference games you can play every team twice every 3 years. Then the SECCG is played between the 2 best teams in the conference, so no sitting home idle waiting to go to the playoffs like Bama has done.

I would be all for this idea. It’s also beneficial to the players and students too. They deserve to experience every atmosphere the SEC has to offer. An interesting take pertaining to this weeks game is that we were fortunate enough to have LSU at our place 2 straight years. A good portion of our players have never been to Baton Rouge or experienced that type of atmosphere. Those that have really need to step up and be leaders this week. It’s a daunting task ahead. And I love it.

Your position included that this game doesn't matter which is the part I disagree with completely.

We can lose it and still accomplish all our goals. That's all I was saying. I think it's unique in that regard. The only other like it would've been miami or Uk. But moving forward, I think a loss at struggling Usce or beaten-by-Wyoming Mizzou(late in the year) would be a killer. And I'm of the opinion that if uga beats us, they don't drop 2 others.

So again, I wasn't implying that we shouldn't care. I've hated Lsu my whole life. I'm merely talking in the context of playing/not playing our starting QB. If we had to sit him and roll with a backup, as odd as it sounds, this would probably be the game.

I'd also appreciate your take on enchiladas.

We had about three times the talent on that team.

Hell we probably had more five stars on 06 than weve had this decade.

Edit: 2002 five 5 stars and #2 class
2004 one 5 star and #7 class
2003 one 5 star and #20 class (transition)

Truth. But no one gave us a chance. Mostly due to the fact that yeah we had 5* young talent that had major contributions. And defense was the backbone. Similar to what I see this year I suppose.(minus the 5* young talent)
