The Bama boards are in an uproar over losing Gilbert, there are threads on who do they go after at TE now....Beckwith keeps coming up. I hope we don't lose that kid. He's going to be a 6'6 245lb TE by his 2nd season, probably very similar to Pitts. With Odom in the class, that's a good combination of a pass catcher and blocking TE.

Also from an Alabama poster (on Demarkus Bowman):

I hesitate to post this only because it’s so random and out of left field but I thought you guys would be interested to hear. I work and live in Lakeland, FL at a church with a large youth ministry. Our high school pastor was talking to some students from Lakeland HS where Demarkcus goes and one of the kids is a close friend or best friend. This kid said Demarkcus has been claiming to him that he’s close to decommitting from Clemson and often mentions Bama as is preferred spot to land. Grade of saw, TIFWIW and all that. Just passing along a rumor that could just be kids talking. I also know the strength/DL coach pretty well over there so I’m going to reach out to find out more. If I do, I’ll update. RTR!

-------

This makes no sense to me. If he de-commits, why Alabama? They signed Trey Sanders last year, who is redshirting due to injury (plus another RB last year) and they have a top 100 ranked RB committed in this class (and a 400th ranked 3-star committed). So he'd be one of 5 true freshman or 2nd year RB's on the roster. If he de-commits it can't be anywhere else but UF, right?

We aren’t getting kids like Bowman. Just not happening. Not sure the real reason why but the trend is clear. I wouldn’t even put thought into it - just going to frustrate you later.

Fair warning! If you keep posting actual recruiting news in the recruiting thread, we may come to expect it.

I agree. They don’t tend to lose long-standing commits from my recollection. But you never know. Maybe he doesn’t like the depth chart, the distance, or maybe the house he was given wasn’t in as nice a neighborhood and has one of those terrible HOAs.

Maybe the HOA wouldn’t fire its lawn maintenance contractor to hire his relative with a lawn care business, as promised by Clemson?

They are speculating that Clemson is dropping him over something that happened at the school - and they caught him in a lie. I have no clue what they are talking about, but it's a discussion on a couple of boards.

So we’re gonna finish 3rd now?

That's what he is today, while still in HS. I suspect he puts on 20lbs over the next 20+ months...

Go to the Bama 247 boards, it's there....
It seems like wild speculation on their part particularly about him getting in trouble at school. I can understand their wishful thinking on him flipping to them but him getting in trouble is way out there...
